I recommend you read the self help center (found at the top of the main newbie page, near the life preserver). There is a lot of good info there for providers as well as hobbyists. Pay special attention to the provider ad posting guidelines, if you wish to place ads on TER. You can place a free ad every seven days on your regional ad board. You can also post photos on your regional board if they have theme day threads. Also participating in discussions on your regional board will help you get known.

Also take some time to read back a few pages on this board. You will see many topics come up over and over again, and you may have some questions which have already been answered. You can also use the search feature at the top of the page and search for specific topics.

If you have more questions after doing that, come back here and ask. This is the place to do it, and there are many helpful people here to answer.

Perfectstorm gave you some very good advice.  A little reading should answer many of your questions, but come back here with any specific ones.  Your first reviewer will create your "profile" which you can then have linked to your user handle (BadHelena).  That will make it easier for guys to see what area you work in and your services.  In the mean time you should look into posting on your local Regional board and Ad board.
