Pretty basic question...when does the clock start?
There is often a few minute of smalltalk and a shower or freshening up. But does the clock start as soon as you enter the room or once things get moving? Perhaps this is a YMMV thing.
And your last sentence is correct. It's YMMV, however, if you read the reviews you'll get an excellent idea as to when the clock starts. Look for phrases like "not a clock watcher" "lost all track of time" etc. as to the pace of the date and if a hobbyist feels he was shorted time, they normally mention it in the reviews. However, never assume you'll be treated the same way as the reviewer. I take the attitude the clock starts when the door of the incall closes. Good luck

so I'd assume that it starts when you enter & ends when you leave. There are exceptions, but one must not assume. If you are reasonably clean to start with, it only takes a couple of minutes to wash the personal bits. (I wish hotels had hand held showers though they'd probably be stolen... but ladies might consider for their incall. It aids in getting all the soap off with minimal delay.)
after she lets you in, she takes more time getting ready while you wait. Providers aren't supposed to do this, but it happens. Even when it's off the meter, it can be a bit of a buzz killer.
The other exception is when you arrive late. Usually, she will just start the clock accordingly if it's not too long, but you shouldn't assume that.
unless she delays the start for some reason, or you arrive early and she lets you in, in which case the clock starts when she lets you in.
It seems I disagree with the other replies.
Of course, there are all sorts of exceptions, but they are at the lady's discretion. Some ladies will let new dates run long, try to make it extra special in order to increase the odds you come back. Some ladies say they are not clock watchers up front. There is one lady I have seen repeatedly who always, always loses track of time - I had 90 minute dates with her run over 3 hours. Now, before anyone lights into me, I told her I thought it was time to go around the 90 minute mark and she insisted it was fine, I should take my time. Repeatedly. Sometimes I paid her extra, but as often she turned the extra money down. And sometime, if the sex is good (for me anyway) and I have not quite finished, the lady will make that extra effort to finish me off even if it means we go over.
Anyway, the answer is the clock starts at the agreed upon time, and anything else is at the lady's discretion. Shower, chit chat, cocktails, dress up, all are on your time. and dime You are paying for the lady's time after all. If you have a date at 8 for an hour, you should be getting ready to go at 9. If time is tight, if she is watching the clock, she will try to get you moving at 8:50 so you are actually gone at 9, but usually if you start to move toward your clothes, or at least the bathroom to wash up, around that one hour mark, it will be okay. My guess is that most ladies figure in a little extra time anyway, but it is considerate to not make them push you out of bed and out the door.
A four pm begins at four pm and ends at five, unless the gent is running late or lost-I have a tricky to find location and three flights of stairs to climb-in that case, the time starts whenever the gent walks through the door.
