Us guys need to give up something, these ladies even though they are here by choice are really taking the risks. They need some kind of leverage, so a name is not out of the ballpark. As far as a job is concerned, that is a play it by occupation question. For example, I love on this board and respect all people and really have nothing to hide. But the fact is I'm an attorney and have a code of ethics that I head to, it is not my choice. My colleagues are far from being my friends; the nice folks that I consort with are away from my job including this TER board. If I was to get accused of something, if I did it or not, I'm toast if it got to my workplace. Now if I was a construction worker, or auto mechanic; the boys would get a good laugh out of it if a provider was to call and make a stink. This is not saying that these occupations are below me, or anything like that, I do not know how to change a sparkplug. Also, I was in the Navy as an inlisted man, at work there everybody talks about issues of an erotic nature. Point being of all this, we need to exercise disrcretion on a case by case basis to whom we disclose our personal info to.
I'm having a little trouble getting started because I don't have any references. Two ladies were willing to see me if I gave my real name and main work phone number so they could verify it. I'm not very eager to do that, but I can't see any way to avoid it if I want to get an appointment. Any advice?
Eventually you'll come across someone who doesn't require the information you're uncomfortable about releasing. For the record, most of the ladies I've seen who require my work number are very discreet about calling and verifying. Personally, I don't worry about it too much. A real name and work phone number really isn't too outrageous a request.
I agree. A real name and work number shouldn't be a big problem. Most of the times, the provider isn't going to call your work number and say "Hi, I'm an escort and I am wondering if SO & SO works their and for how long. He is planning to see me soon and I wanted to do some checking up on him."
If you do your research and pick a provider who has good reviews and has been seen before then you'll be ok. Another good option is that you can send messages to other TER members and ask them how the encounter went. I have done this before and it really helps in making a decision.
And also, if the work number is too important to you then maybe you should say you own your own business and just give out your cell number or another alternative number that you have access to.
Another suggestion...you could always see a provider with an agency. Their are a couple of decent agencies out their. Like MC. Sweeties. And even if your experience with the provider isn't as great as you hoped at least you will now have a reference.

If a provider is going to misuse your personal information, that person has probaly done it to someone else. Do research before selecting someone to contact, if your research is good then you will not have any problems. I gave a provider my work phone exchange information recently after researching her and have had zero problems.
I think you should find something better to do with your time. Being in this hobby is a big waste of time. Work on some skillsets to better yourself or better spend your energy and go back to school and get a PHD.
There is going to be a very big bust pretty soon. People are giving out to much information and it comes back to haunt you. Take a look at this story:
Read it and weap.
There have been many crackdowns and busts all over the US recently. Some have been so bad that your hair will fall out your head, scan this message (main) board. Major busts in (Chicago, NJ, PA, Seattle Wash, DC, MD, and California). In all the cases LE got the records and they have been calling clients to testify.
The risks are too great and things are out of control. This hobby is not fun anymore.
The sad thing is that alot of men have done things to these providers to make them want the information for their safety. Recently some have been giving out fake money.
