If you are going the BackPage route which is extremely risky. Copy and paste the ads phone number to a search engine lets say like google. The number should take you to other similar ads in other cities and help to indicate if it is possibly a provider moving from city to city and not an LE set up.
Also google your city and the neighboring cities and search for prostitution sting. That will help show if the heats been on the scene as of late. If an ad doesn't feel right go with your first instinct and do not proceed. Or if you call and it doesn't feel right again just don't go. If you ask an out of town provider and they seem to know very well how to give you directions to where they are without fumbling a little to explain then be wary of that. Also get a phone from Walmart or wherever which is untraceable to be your Hobby phone. I used to be a Cowboy on BP taking pride in being the first to review a new provider feeling I had a sixth sense in spotting trouble. Humbly and luckily I've never had an LE incident. However the reality of possibly being arrested and having a record for solicitation of a prostitute has me too fearful to be so active in the Hobby anymore. My one weakness is the 18-19 year old brand new ladies. Are there any common characteristics of ads that turn out to be from LE? I know these may not be available, but was wondering if there are any links to any such ads. Just wanted to pick the brains of some veterans for red flags in an ad. I'd think sites like bp are more likely to be LE.
I think most LE ads will have stolen photos, so use the various photo screening services out there and check photos. Most likely it will just be a bait and switch, but you want to avoid those too anyways.
Another tendency is for LE to not bother to screen, so if someone just says fine, come on over, that could be a tip off.
Best way to avoid LE, as always, is to see well reviewed gals.
Using well reviewed providers is the best way to avoid LE stings.(as well as other issues such as B&S, scams, ripoffs, and poor performance)
Newbies should not TOFTT. But I will answer your question anyway. First of all, BP is probably the biggest place for LE to put up sting ads, but don't rule out EROS, or anywhere else including TER or even P411. One of the things LE will do is keep putting up new ads. An LE sting ad is not likely to run more than one day. When guys get busted, word will get out on hobby sites quickly, and even BP that the ad was a sting, so LE can usually only use the phone number and pics once. Then they will run another ad with different pics and phone numbers. So if you see an ad run continuously over a period of days, or an ad that repeats often, then most likely it is not LE (Of course it could still be a number of other TGTBT deals) None of this is written in stone now. I am saying "most likely."
LE ads will also probably use really pretty pics and low prices to suck people in. You probably won't see phrases like "No AA men." (because LE is not going to discriminate against who they arrest.) They probably won't screen as mrf said, and they may discuss or allow you to discuss things over the phone that most real escorts wouldn't (specific acts, sex for money etc.) These are the kind of things that experienced TOFTT guys might look for to help rule out LE, but none of it is a guaranty and LE is smart and they always adapt. Still for a newbies, the best bet is to stick with well reviewed, reputable providers.

They figure a cop is not going to have racial preferences which lets guys think that as well, thus hitting the ad. LE is not supposed to use nudity, that much I will say but I would not say they won't do it. They have broken most every one of their own rules for a bust before.

My problem too. Calling the new ad is scary, but..... Rewarding sometimes.
