Actually there are some STDs that can be transmitted by just having skin to skin contact with a person infected. Sometimes symptoms can be dormant for years after contraction before showing any physical signs of infection.

It is the risk we all take these days, unfortunately.

I'm a guy who is pretty new to the hobby and I have always loved DATY.  A hobbyist friend of mine recommended that I avoid DATY with providers to avoid catching an STD.  I thought I could avoid it when hobbying, but I can't seem to help myself. I find that DATY is so much fun!  I see a provider once every month or two.  Anyway, I'd like to know from hobbyists and providers: (1) To what degree should I be concerned about catching an STD from DATY? (2) What could I do to avoid STD risks from DATY? (3) Which STD(s) am I most at risk of contracting from DATY? (4) Are there any tricks for picking providers that are less likely to have STDs?

you can use a dental dam. learnt about it in college, but never seen one being used.

I don't really have any complaints about condoms in any act, but dental dams just seem like they'd take away a lot of the enjoyment for both people.  I'd like to hear opinions from anyone who's ever used one, though.

Use Saran Wrap SPECIFICALLY, not Glad etc. as they are made from a different sort of plastic that has not been tested as a barrier to diseases.

I'm a relative newbie, too.  If an ASP has numerous positive reviews, with reviewers mentioning BBBJs and DATY, do you think it's safe to assume that these activities are pretty safe?  (I realize there are no guarantees)
Thanks
