As a newbie, I'm curious who originated the word "hobbiest" for this?

Reminds me of a Woody Allen movie (alas, title forgotten) in which he referred to masturbation as his hobby.

and deemed "Whoremonger" way to forthright for their delicate sensibilities.

...whore and mal-adjusted prick would probably be more accurate.....but then we'd hate ourselves in the morning.
