i found this provider who wants to be paid half before we meet up. I'm leary about this. Is this normal for a provider and 1st timer to do?

or uncommon usually the more higher end/pornstars do that or at least that has been my experience when looking for women to meet

Is she well reviewed?
PM some of the guys who have seen her and ask if they had to make a deposit.
Is it mentioned on her website?
Is it mentioned in any of her reviews?
Is she local or is she traveling to see you?
Can you afford the loss if she doesn't follow through?

Just some additional things for you to consider when making your decision.

The only exception to this might be if you are asking a girl to travel to see you from out of town.

i have been looking and have not found any reviews for her. i found an ad for her on backpage and e-mailed her. she's local. it's not alot it's only 150 upfront, but its before we meet up and before i get any kind of address for her. i have only spoken to her in e-mails but this is what it said "because of the bad experiences i had with time wasters, not serious people all over the internet, rapist and abusers. Payment upfront is made via moneypak purchased at Wal-Mart, Kroger, Walgreens or cvs or any convenience store from new clients."

I would require a deposit to travel a distance for a multiple hour meeting.

the majority do not..but some do..they will state up front that a 50% deposit is due before scheduling..i have never seen a porn star do it..but several high end ladies do..

i see SCAM written all over this one..stay away..

I'd tell you tell you to move on.  That is just not normal for the general public providers.  IMHO, you would get ripped off in this case.  If she is a very high dollar PS, that's one thing, but most regular providers do not ask for that kind of deposit.

Does not meet the requiremenrts for me to give a deposit, travel expense or large time block reserved like overnight.  150 would buy a hour hour of a lady's time in my area, for a few dollars more a full hour.  
In general, this is a cash on delivery business.   Once she has your money there's no incentive to meet you...  she suddenly becomes hard to reach.

Just pay when you get to the session... not before. It makes life a lot easier for everyone.

In this economy, there are all sorts of scams.  Not saying this is one, but it certainly is an approach that is fraught with risk.

to get a deposit of half down. If this is just a regular meeting for a few hours, I would be very leary especially if her rate is on the low end. If I were only charging 2 or 3 an hour, no way in hell I would want any amount down because that small amount is not hard to secure a day later. If a girl is charging on the ups of 500, she might want 100 upfront...I do this at home.
