I searched the boards and the Abbrevations thread I don't see anything that explains what *82 mean.

It is used in front of provider's phone numbers.

Examples:
Phone: *82 310-515-0103
--or--
For your easy connection..don't forget *82.

That's so your phone number, if connected so that your name and number are not shown when you make the call, is shown for that call.

This is done so providers can screen you and be able to call you back later if they want to for some reason.  This prevents the anonymous caller from getting through.
