The guys who go for the high-end girls obviously disagree with your assessment. If they continue to pay higher prices, then they obviously see value in what they're getting, and you haven't made any points to convince them to do otherwise. This is one business where the market rates do regulate themselves if everyone just pays what they believe is fair.

let's start by saying that i believe a person deserves whatever payment they can get for their services....i am a grandchild of union laborers(eastern european leather cutters of the 1920's to be specific) who fought horrible business owners, deplorable working conditions and communist accusers...i am also a baseball fan who believes that a-rod deserves what he can get whether he earns it or not because there is some schmuck out there willing to pay
on that note, the willingness to pay has become an issue to me and to some of my fellow hobbyists...i have found a radical increase in the fees that providers are charging, especially at the $660-1,000 level...i am very guilty of being a participant in these relationships but i really have found no difference with the $1,000 per hour lady and the $300 agency girl...again, if some one is willing to pay a grand, more power to the escort and to the john and i wish them joy in their mutually agreed business relationship...however, if we stop making appointments at these levels, i am 100% certain that their prices will fall to a more earthly level...now i am not trying to take the money out of the mouths of poor starving babes....i just feel that their market rate is too high...regarding the baseball comparison, i can bitch and moan with every a-rod strike out and scream that he ain't worth his salary but the only way i can protest this is by cancelling my yankee seasons(which i am considering) and not buying the products that are advertised....for the ladies, i have found a bevy of bountiful beauties under 4 bills and i feel that i would rather see 2 a week at that level rather than the once a week with the "VIP"...the same bullshit applies to the tantra providers charging extra dough just to stick their finger in your ass versus the standard fbsm
now the ladies will be angry with my assessment(hence the alias) but i started to feel really taken advantage of....well let me clarify...i always feel taken advantage of whether i am with a pro or amateur(you always pay for it in the end)...but i was recently with an amazing lady that had a $1200/ hour rate....her body was great, personality was spectacular and the service was amazing...she is relatively utr(meaning no reviews but a strong base of admirers)....what i found is that after the session, in comparison to some of the stronger agency girls, is that there really was no difference
on the whole, if we unite and think with our wallets rather than our dicks, we can stop all of this madness and set the bar to a more reasonable amount

I think the most outstanding car in the world is the Audi R8. If I had the money I would own it in a second. I don't criticize Audi for charging $120,000 for it. I see one, say very nice, and I move along. I do the same with our high priced friends. You're quite lovely, I envy the gentlemen who can afford it, and move along.
NYC is the home of big bonuses, capitalism, and Wall Street. Also huge law firms, accounting firms, and ad agencies. Many have money to burn in NYC. You'll never get the $600/hr and higher girls to lower rates, and a few guys on this site boycotting them is futile, and a waste of time. You can either afford their rate, or not. The economy is what dictates pricing. and luxury goods rarely suffer like moderately priced items. High end porn stars, centerfolds, and models can always get more money.
The girls that are suffering most right now are the $250 -$450 girls. There's always a market for the budget girls and the highest end girls.

Their message has been fairly consistent from the very beginning. Mainstream media from both sides of the fence have been deliberately muddying the waters to discredit the movement.
Take the time to go down there and talk to a few random people and ask them what they hope to accomplish.
If you can't afford to see some ladies because their rates are too high for you, then keep searching until you find ladies that are in your price range. They are most definitely out there; just do your homework, and find them!

I'm not a "regular" of $1,000+ ladies, but I see a few. They are an indulgence, and frankly I feel there is a difference. In public they seem more refined, and behind closed doors they seem more primal. Or maybe the wide arc represted by the two extremes just makes it seem that way. Also, these ladies seem to be able to invoke some elements of erotica into public time in a way that's both discreet to everyone else, but hits you in the head like a brickbat.
As said before, there's too much money around here to think you're going to suppress prices of high-end ladies. Hell, most of the guys that are throwing around that kind of jingle don't even know what TER is....
If "price stickiness" bothers you, you can always resort to a "sticky fingers" policy

I'm paying for all the other clients she Hasn't seen that day. A higher end agency girl might be a fantastic lay and beautiful, but she sees 6 or more clients a day. I believe I may be getting a more real performance from someone who is only seeing me that day, or maybe me and one other person. Plus im not going where several men have already been that day. At the higher rates I believe the providers daily volume slows and her attitude is more voracious and non-rush.
Paying the higher rates is not worth it to everyone, but I appreciate the indulgence once in a while and personally have found a difference in my selection between price points.

I am glad a gentleman understands the difference between a busy lady and a low-volume one. I can't imagine having one appointment after another and being able to fully dedicate yourself to your lover. On a funny note, the way I see it is like eating a meal-on-the-go, out of plastic bags and containers versus enjoying a tasty, delicious meal at a nice restaurant. Sure, no one's going home hungry, but which experience did you enjoy best and most important, which one has a long-lasting, memorable impression on you? I would personally prefer the freshest, juicy ingredients, prepared just for you hours before your... reservation.

Those who convince themselves that they're paying higher prices for all the clients the provider "isn't seeing," or for "better/VIP service," or for "experience," or for etc., etc., etc. are, basically, paying extra for their imagination.
The point of the original post was that he felt he can find similar service at a lower rate. Very often that's the case.
Why are there so many providers able to charge such high rates for service that isn't so terribly different than what you find at lower rates? Because there is a demand for service at that price.
Which is just another way of saying that fools are willing to pay those higher prices because they have convinced themselves that there is value to be found at the higher price point. Period.
As evidenced by the visiting providers that charge $50 - $100 more in NYC than they do at their home base, or when visiting other cities. You'll never convince me that they're suddenly that much "better" just because they're in Manhattan. It's the price the market will bear because enough NY hobbyists have shown they're willing to pony up the bigger bucks.
Mind you, I agree with the OP's comments regarding A-Rod, and believe it applies to the ladies as well, if they can find "some schmuck out there willing to pay" their asking price, then more power to them.
Traveling providers charge more when they're in NYC in part because it's more expensive to travel to NYC. Hotel prices are higher, food is expensive, etc. Like any business, they pass those expenses on to the consumer.
But, that doesn't account for the overall market price.
