The official beginning of summer isn't until June 21st, so the fact that we are having this kind of heat wave, this early, is not a good thing at all.

Be warned good citizens, these early heat waves and violent outbursts of weather in the midwest are definite signs of the climate change. This has a ripple affect that we all should be will aware of.... Warmer weather earlier in the season makes two things happen... 1. The overall average temperature of all the oceans rises. 2. because the ozone layer has been breached, more powerful rays of sunlight are penetrating down to the polar ice caps and melting them. This ice cap melting is resulting in higher sea levels....

What does this mean to us here in the North East region of the US.... Be wary that warmer climates = warmer waters off of our shores. Hurricanes feed off of warm waters. That's not a myth, it's a fact. This increases the potential for the North East to see a repeat of Superstorm Sandy... Mind you that while Sandy was a violent storm that caused lots of damage, it degenerated quickly into a tropical storm when it came into our area. Imagine if Sandy had warmer waters still, when it came into our area? With rising sea temperatures, come more powerful storms. This is our new reality because of climate control. Don't mean to be a killjoy here kids. Just giving you the facts. Be prepared.

....be in your great city the week after next, and was hoping to get in a few long Central Park runs.  With these temperatures, I will do it, but not like it.

DC has been very hot this week, but only today, did we have high humidity.

Keep cool, and drink plenty of water.

Hugs and Kisses,
Kelly

Thanks for such a sweet message!  The last time I peeked in on TER, things were not so pleasant on the boards.  Hence my absence.

The sun is streaming in as I write (I have southern exposure here in lower Manhattan.)

I've put my AC on to the coldest, most blastingiest setting there can be.  So... I've the best of both worlds... also, just had a delicious afternoon interlude, so just looking for the perfect CD to round out my mood.  I'm thinking the soundtrack to 'Brigadoon'.

Best,
