Visiting NYC for first time need suggestions on where to eat

Hello everyone

I just got to NYC and am starving. Can anyone suggest a good Thai or sushi I am staying near the 700 block of 7th avenue and I don't know my way around that well it would be great if it was within walking distance

Of course you're asking for a personal recommendation such as "X is really good!" or maybe "X got good reviews in the NY Times and Zagat," and not just a random "I've never eaten there, but ...".  
.
I can't really help with anything other than:
1. google maps, nearby Thai restaurants (many!) or nearby Sushi restaurants (many!).
2. ask the concierge (or front desk or friendly person in the lobby) at your hotel  
.
I was going to suggest a Sabrett hot dog cart or a Giant Pretzel cart but those are neither Thai nor sushi.
