Hi all, I have had a lot of e-mails that my website has refused to accept due to detecting a virus. I have checked my computer and I do not have it but there are a lot of people out there who do have this and might not know it. If you have written to me and have not had a response it is most likely that your e-mail was refused. I am posting this so everyone knows that I did not ignore any e-mail but also so that if you have this problem you can check out your computer. The virus is called w32.novarg.a@mm Also has a few other names but that is one. I am not sure if my autoresponder is being sent out but if you have not gotten my auto responder and you have e-mailed me and not gotten that it is a good indicator that I did not get yours. Again my computer is fine and has been checked so I am noyt worried about anything but not getting your e-mail or anyone having any problems. Yep, the "My Doom" virus(actually its a "worm") is spreading like wild fire. It plays ticks with your e-mail. I had a bout with it yesterday. It gives you false Miller Daemain error messages(message not received) on e-mail that you didn't even send. Also, gives you them on e-mail you sent...and the crazy thing... it really does not go through. It tied me up on business issues for several hours yesterday. Thankfully, I have Mcafee online virus control which did not initially detect my virus. I called their tech support which also supports AOl subscribers at 1-877-254-5507 and they were able to direct me to their online "stinger" download software which has appeared to eliminate the SOB worm. ...at least I hope it did.Good riddance!
Must be that a lot of people have it. I got up to about 20 e-mails this morning and at least 12 were returned and said they contained a virus. Hope everyone just checks their machines. I have a couple things I run on mine for protection just because I get so many e-mail so I was fortunate enough to not get it. Have a great week everyone and stay warm. Donna
Thanks for posting this. I am having alot of strange emails come through. I actually opened another email account because of the problems. It have really caused a problem, so guys, if I have not returned your mail, this is why. Diamond
all computer users with e-mails MUST have one of the two famous anti-virus programs at a minimum!!! (Norton or McAfee). Then you should also have Adaware from Lavasoft and PestPatrol for trojans (no - the OTHER kind).
too many computer users are just sitting ducks!
also, if you use windows XP, PLEASE PLEASE create a user id which does NOT have admin privileges and use that for all of your on-line work (or play).
