Many options. Best newish one: Dirt Candy

For an old but mostly still relevant list, including the most upscale imaginable (per se and daniel):

Fun overall experience: HanGawi - upscale vegetarian Korean.

IF they are good of course. Thanks.

Ok I can help with this one!

Vegetarian Paradise 2-
funny name.  great restaurant.  get the lychees stuffed with seitan.  great flavor and texture!  the vegetarian roast pork buns (dim sum style) are pretty good too.  there is a vegetarian soul food restaurant (Red Bamboo) right next door with LOTS of fake meat options if that's more your style, but I like VP2 better.

DirtCandy- I do not recommend this place.  I thought it was overhyped, minimally creative, and did not include much fake meat- only vegetable-focused dishes.  The Fennel dish was pretty enjoyable though and I would probably give it another shot in a few years if I was with someone else who wanted to go.  If you like simple vegetable dishes maybe give it a shot.  They were trying to get fancy like serving tomatoes 3 or 4 different ways on one plate, but for such simple dishes I wanted more exciting flavor profiles.  However many people seemed to love the fried broccoli, which was battered, deep fried, and smothered in a sauce.  For me it was too close to one of my favorite Indian-Chinese fusion dishes which is similar but with Cauliflower and a much more well-seasoned sauce, so the dish fell a little flatter with me than perhaps it would otherwise.

Zen Vegetarian in Brooklyn (I know you said Manhattan sorry) is also really great for fake meat options for vegetarian Chinese food.  All your favorites in veggie versions including hard-to-find things like vegetarian wonton soupl complete with fake veggie meat inside the wontons.  Deep comfort food as far as fake meat goes!  I recommend the Sweet n Sour Chicken if you're into that sort of thing.

Some places I've never tried that have good reviews for fake meat:
Wild Ginger
Buddha Bodai

Happy food hunting.  :)

I was looking specifically for one with fake meat options.  IF they are good of course. Thanks.

Oh ... forget about Burger King. You're so picky.

Seriously, I was out with friends and I had a mushroom dish that tasted like meat but I can't remember the name of the place. Even to a meat eater like me, it was very good.

Great vegan/vegetarian restaurant (they have macrobiotic meals).
I usually go to the Union Square location, but I heard the other two are equally good.
