Two years ago I lost contact with my All-Time Favorite mature provider who I had seen for several decades. Our relationship had progressed from working to social and we often spoke about non-business matters. We also sent each other holiday cards, Valentine’s Day cards, and birthday cards. (She had told me her real name and home address.)
I finally went to her co-op building and gave her name and unit number to the lobby attendant as if I was visiting her. He replied that she wasn’t there anymore. It took me a while to realize what he was saying - she had passed away. We had spoken recently so I knew she wasn’t ill. I was devastated. I knew that the Jewish religion requires burial within one day so there wasn’t going to be a funeral where I could express my condolences to her family (or see her one last time). Though I do have clothed photos of her and her original newsprint ad (pre-internet). If anyone out there has any advice or pearls of wisdom about getting-on with my hobbyist life, I would like to hear them.
I do have a question. You mention you lost track of her two years ago, I take it her death was much more recent than that. What have you been doing for the last two years when she was still alive? It appears to me that your "hobbyist life" was put on hold long before finding out about her death
Just think of it this way, if you weren't hear we'd have to find some other dumb slob to have fun with. You're providing a public service with your stupidity. Embrace the role.
