I hate to go here, for reasons you know, but if you prefer that no one posts "mean offensive things" on the board, why characterize non-opera devotees as "plebeians"? That is elitist and misinformed. I find opera tedious, but I have season subscriptions to the NY Philharmonic, Tanglewood, and ABT, and am a member of MOMA, the MET, and the AMNH. Aren't cultural predilections to one's choosing? Not swooning over an opera does not make one a "plebeian."
