I am a fairly long standing, but not as active member/poster as others. I don't know what the heck is going on here with these little cat fights among the posters. I am beginning to get pretty disgusted with the whole thing.I don't know who is real or fake. Are providers posing as customers? There seem to be a fair amount of regulars consistently schilling for their favorite agencies. It makes me question the credibility of the whole damn enterprise. TER should be the unbiased "Zagats" for the hobbyist community-if they lose their credibility they lose it all. Management take note!!!

Rocc, you brought up an interesting point..."with selective moderation". I am somewhat surprised that our TER moderator has not taken more action in welcoming "newbies" or regulars who do not post frequently, but instead has given his silent stamp of approval by allowing bashing, etc. to continue. The responses to your message by softie and mightymax are prime examples. I'd be more than happy to share with you what that does to their credibility in my book...ahh but than again, I'm a "newbie" with no reviews, so it doesn't really matter.
This all kinda reminds me of an AOL chat room circa 1994 where this immature mental soapbox masturbation by self proclaimed regs trying to intimidate newcomers ran rampant. Hey, Rocc, why dont you casually ask providers about the TER message board...I expect their thoughts would be very interesting, but I'm sure, only fiction as well.

I think your post was just a piece of useless fiction, but your opinion is always welcome.
First, never assume experience to be purely measured by that little blue box in the right hand corner of the post that says 'Go to TonyRoccs 3 reviews'. There are people here who could shame the self-professed board kings into humility, as some of them have had more expereince than the 'board kings' have had hot meals. To those who fall into this category, and watch the drama posts by those that are full of themselves, it's kind of humorous and high-school.
Second, never assume that blue box identifies a newbie. I know of some who now are regulars, but had to transform themselves into a new handle for reasons they don't need to explain. When they abandoned their abundance of reviews, they had to re-enter as what may have appeared as a newbie. You 'regulars' can't keep track of all these transformations ( and you have witnessed a few), more important, it's not your job, it's TER's job.
Third, There are some who want information and knowledge, above board and UTR, and some who want to rule the boards. Let the board rulers have their say.
But try to know what they dont know.

...I couldn't agree more about what the purpose of this board should be. I'm a newbie to hobbying and TER, and I don't post often because there are people who seem to dominate the board with what seems to be irrelevant posts - it can be a little intimidating. It seems I have to be very careful with my words.
I too would like to see more informational posts, with the occasional poll or joke or news item, and less shilling and name-calling. It prevents others like me from posting and having to wonder how the regulars will react.
I hope the new year will bring a kindler, gentler board for everyone's benefit.

I agree. We are definitely the silent minority here. Too many posters with hidden -- or not-so-hidden -- agendas. Hardly ever seems as though there's a truly informational post anymore.
Figure they're probably accepting more posts here indiscriminately than other regions do to bolster the activity..... But at such a cost -- would rather see fewer posts overall than such junk from agencies and cheap-a** shills... Whenever I see insipid agency shills days in a row, I go for weeks w/o checking this board.
Too bad.... we're the biggest metropolis in the country and one of the top, if not the top, world cities.... The most gorgeous, sophisticated women here.
what's great aboud this board is that you can click past a thread or those posters that have turned your insides upside down previously.It's somewhat like clicking the remote on the TELE.

Anything I read that has been written about the agency in question in a positive light comes under added scrutiny from the gents here. When the sugar-plum and honey compliments are so abundant, one says "Me thinks thou doth compliment too prodigiously....beware".
This goes for their reviews as well, many which you can read between the lines and see they are pure shill.
This is not a 'price thing'. There are many similarly priced agencies that don't stoop to this. Fairchild. Sloane Club. I guess they don't need come on here and hawk like a carnival barker with fake contests to get their clients.
I'll pass on this place. Everything about it says 'that's a little strage'.

You are right about many with lots of hobby experience who don't write reviews and many with some reviews (such as me) that represent only a small sample of my experiences. Nevertheless, I do appreciate those who take the time to write reviews. I doubt many of us would be here without them. If the process were improved and the ratings redesigned, I think they could be even better.
I am a client of "that agency" and guarantee you that the encounters I have experienced are exactly as reported in my reviews. Obviously, I can't vouch for anyuone else. However, if you check out my reviews on other well known providers, I think you will see that they are "right in line" with most other's experiences. This should indicate to you that at least what I have written is accurate.
I am no shill for them, and they are not my only source of entertainment. I also find the contests annoying and have told Jason as much. Jason is a salesman - I suspect the controversy and attention is exactly what he wants. Unfortuneately, his antics sometimes detract from what otherwise is an excellent agency. Whether you like them or not and whether or not you use them, they are for real. I know that there are other fine agencies as well.
Finally, several on this board have developed cliques. They banter back and forth and seemingly use the board for their own personal embellishment. Several seem to be shills for other independent providers. It gets tiring to see the same two or three people constantly extolling the virtures of the same two or three providers. Once or twice is great but several times a week is too much. On the other hand, it's very easy to skip over those posts once you know the handles of those with little of substance to say.

I use to post here as well and was a paying member, but quickly tired of the egos of who's the smartest or more experienced hobbyist. Now, other boards are posting negative comments about TER. This fuels truth to the allegations, and I let my membership expire because of these. Fact is, some hobbyist can not respect a different opinion without attacking others.
I joined the board for information from the ladies, not from individuals that take offense to another's opinion. As with all customer oriented sites, people will have options. You will just have to decide which board is best of the information you need. The reviews are the best here, and is one of the reasons, I stay. Just stay focused on the reviews and not the discussion boards.
