Not sure if you're doing a little bit of recon for yourself or just fielding a general question, but my thoughts....

If its a local gal to NYC (like you're one of our great local gals) and let's say you're going to get into porn, that's cool. I'm open minded to exploration of expressing and experiencing sexuality in different ways and doing porn is a very exhibitionist way of doing it. So if you're down for it (and you're in a healthy psychological mindset to do it) go for it.  

As for how that relates to being a local provider - getting into porn. If a gal does this, she should stay true to her loyal local roots. Not to turn around and jack up rates, just because she's getting into porn and she's seen as porn star now. Stay humble, stay honorable, stay sincere and all will be good... But outside of the home turf environment (like NYC) I'd say, game on for higher rates, because of being in porn.  

Also... regarding actual performances in porn, keep in mind, it's nothing like you see on the vids. The production side of porn is a lot of hurry up and wait. So, the actresses and actors might get into a lot of heavy action, but then they have to sit around and wait for technical adjustments that might take up long periods of waiting. Also there's a lot of really early call times, scheduling problems that always come up... blah, blah, blah.  

Ultimately, it comes down to a personal choice. But it is another way to make a buck, with it's share of pros and cons.  
I will say though, when porn is produced really well, it's great fun to watch the really dirty action. Yummy.

It would be a deal breaker for any future sessions for me. (Although I have yet to see you.) I would imagine your rates would skyrocket after your first few releases and box covers. The biggest con would be the safety issue. TER non-porn escorts seem to be far, far better protected than porn stars, who rarely use condoms, in spite of Measure B. HIV is not the only STD to worry about or be vigorously tested for. Also, female performers have to deal with hazards such as vaginal/rectal tears. An hour in the hobby is real time; even 15 minutes in porn can be an hour of two of filming. Porn is daredevil work in a lot of ways. High risk = high reward, I guess, but I'd be wary of seeing even a condom-only performer. There are "girls only" porn stars, but even they perform raw with female performers who work with guys. Too many "xxx" factors for me!

I've viewed porn but I'm not  a big porn guy. Then there are a lot of others who look like they agreed to do a few scenes that often look like low quality "B" movies and are easily forgettable.  I'm not sure it helps their career in any way and, with widespread circulation, maybe even hurt their career or personal life.

There are some resident NYers who have done porn in CA or LV and offer a clip or two or a cover or two on their web sites.  I never saw "A" class material.  Maybe they had fun; maybe they made some money; I don't think there are major regrets because they wouldn't have the stories and movies on their web sites.  

SUGGESTION: Ask some of those resident NY Providers who also did porn what they think of their experience.  If possible, find some that did it but don't advertise or talk about it (because of the negative aspects).
