Hi everyone! To keep it simple, I'm just looking for some general predicitions for traffic going into and leaving manhattan from I95 Southbound on a friday at any time after 2pm. Thanks :)

The  Cross Bronx section of that interstate is packed at that time...I'd make sure I allowed at least an hour, if mot more, extra...

To NYers, the Long Island Expressway (into the Queens Midtown Tunnel) is officially known as "The World's Longest Parking Lot." Insert smiley if you're on the train :-) watching the parking lot. Insert angry face :-( if you're stuck on the LIE watching the train fly by.

If you are coming in from New England (one of your reviews) just for a meeting, you might consider parking at an easy to get to Metro-North station and taking the train into Grand Central. I think you'll arrive more relaxed and less rushed and not worrying about parking within 2 miles of your meeting. (If you do decide to drive into the city, there are apps to find cheap parking in NYC - Jelloman knows!)

Good luck

I'm not coming all the way from New England, just from around the NY CT state line. I have very easy access to a metro station, that's how I normally get to the city. Just curious if driving was a realistic alternative or not. I think I have my answer!

You can avoid the Cross Bronx by taking 95 to 278 and then cross the Triboro Bridge to get into Manhattan further south, but even 278 can be a nightmare. I can't really give you current info (construction, potholes, detours) because I try to avoid 95/278/etc. unless it's between 10 PM and 4 AM.

In case you decide to drive, see a recent set of posts on parking in Manhattan (NY Board):

get off stop before 125 st..parking lot right there ...walk one block to 4, 5, or 6 train...be downtown in 10 mins..

:)

Probably going to be a mess.  I always avoided by going onto I287, but that was a natural ride home when traveling home to NJ from CT or New England.   Forget my reminiscences, my first statement is your best approach.

Appreciate all the advice. Ill definitely be taking the 35 min metro ride in and hoofing it to the incall rather than driving.
