I'm sure there have been discussion on this board before -- if you use the search function you'll find lots of info.

The New York City Health Dept. maintains several testing centers throughout the city. They're free. But they also get very crowded very fast and you can end up spending hours there. In Manhattan, one of two is located on West 106th Street. I recommend you arrive early and wait by the locked door so you're among the first in line. That will assure you're out by around Noon. Not only is the testing free, but so is the medication. But be forewarned that they test by swabbing the inside of your dick with a Q-Tip, which is painful. A private urologist will usually use a urine sample as a test. But the visit and the meds aren't free.

Planned Parenthood also provides testing, for a reasonable fee. And then, there's always a urologist. It all depends on whether you have health insurance, whether you want a paper trail, how much you want to spend, etc.

which I believe was around 9th ave and 26th (just go online for the exact address).

I went on a weekday around noon. The wait was about ten minutes. Can't remember but I think it was urine and blood sample. They give you a confidential ID number and you call for the results in 10 days

It may have changed

There was a time when that location was almost impossible to use because so many in the gay community in Chelsea went there for HIV/AIDs testing. Even when you called, they would tell you to get there at like 7am to stand in line. Glad to hear things have gotten better.
