[1] Very different markets. The cost of doing biz in NYC is simply higher

[2] Canada has a saner attitude toward escorting and what consenting adults wish to do in the privacy of their bedrooms.

The second observation is probably the primary reason why the hobby is safer [ for the ladies as well as the gents] and less expensive in Montreal and for that matter Toronto.

Can someone explain why provider prices are so much higher in New York compared to Montreal?

more expensive for visiting providers if they want to stay in a decent hotel in a decent area.
I doubt that Montreal has the high transportation costs either.

But here in NYC, cost of living is exorbitant. The LEAST I ever paid for rent in the Big Apple was 2000/mo for a tiny studio. A basic hotel room is typically 300+ per night, if you want anything decent...and they even get into the $700's during peak times of the season.

Even if one avoids the high rent by living outside the city, transportation costs are extremely high: I currently live about 1 hour away...if I drive, gas/tolls costs me in excess of $30, and parking at least $20 ( I paid $60 once when I was in a huge rush and had to use a hotel valet service). A round-trip train ticket is $30, a round-trip bus ticket is $40. Then factor in meals, and transportation around the city (taxis are best when traveling in the fancy footwear that most gentlemen prefer ;-) ). Not to mention that all sundries, from condoms to movie tickets, cost more in the city. And if you want to go out at night, good luck trying to do it on the cheap!  Somebody mentioned Philly...I go to Philly a lot, and there is NO comparison. Gas and tolls along the way to Philly are considerably less expensive, and I know of places within blocks of Center City where you can park for $9 a day. Hotels are cheaper, and it is easy to find reasonable fare when dining out. And I have never had to take a taxi when trying to get around in Philly, even during the Christmas season. New York is just an unbelieveably expensive place to live.

Also, some of the most affluent people in the world live in and visit NYC. They don't have any problems paying 500-1000/hr, and some even pay sums well in excess of that.

a beautiful city, with friendly people.  Very old world like.  Tthey have a great jazz festival and F1 racetrack along with awesome restaurants and hotels.  Oh and numerous escort agencies with so many 18 to 25 yr olds your head will spin ... both of them!

I agree with Carly on all her points regarding costs.

IMO, NYC is such an overly hyped city it's not funny.

Oh yes museums, culture, restaurants, blah blah blah.  But who wants to live in a 500 sq ft box for $2 G's a month.  Probably has four flights of stairs to walk up, old radiators, and some very friendly cockroaches too. :)

Only the very wealthy can live comfortably in Manhattan.  Correct me if I'm wrong Donald.

3) Girls are OUTCALL only (your hotel) - there is virtually NO such thing as Incall!
4) The Food in Montreal is some of the best in North America.

Montreal is the Hobby Capitol of North America, no question.  Not even the slightest doubt in my mind that Montreal is that.  I've been to Berlin, Vienna, all legal places in the world with legal brothels, and on this continent, Montreal is the best place, hands down. College age girls, the best agencies have girls 18-21 years old, stunningly gorgeous, most of them deepthroat, and it's half the price of here.  I haven't been up in maybe two years, but an hour with an 18 year old hottie was maybe $200 Canadian then, and the only person that can be brought up on charges is the pimp, because prostitution itself is perfectly legal.
Other places in Canada have the same laws, but Montreal is special, I saw so many girls from McGill College I lost track.
