First, it is Maine (the northern state) sweety,

The best place hands down is : red hook lobster pound
No frills great lobster roll: luke's lobster (UES)
You cam get a good fancy lobster in any of the steakhouses such as del frisco, Delmonico's or even surpisingly good at morton's.
Enjoy!

Planning to come soon to NYC and was curious where to find the best Main Lobster at a restaurant?

For lobster and crab is " Fransisco's Centro Vasco" 159 west 23 rd street. TRUST ME
I eat there so often that I'm sick  of the restaurant and  always go looking for comparable shellfish just for change of scenery and I'm
Always terribly disapointed. They're the BEST!

Sindee is right.  Not only a great Lobster in many sizes, but the only bargain among all places mentioned.   Fun not stuffy.

Wow you guys are great...you are worth more than gold and diamonds...lol...thanks

Fransisco's is now on my list of places to try

If you want a more casual experience, I like all three of these places. And for good reason. It all started with Pearl Oyster Bar trying to establish a nostalgic small town New England fish restaurant experience (I like to refer to them as upscale lobster shacks). All three have lobster and lobster rolls on the menu. Each has their fans who will swear by one over the other. Mary worked at Pearl, stole the concept and started her own place. And then Ed did the same, except he copied it so closely that Pearl actually sued him. For my money, they're all basically the same.

The food is reliable at all three, but they're small and popular and don't take reservations, so the wait can be long the later you arrive.
