she has been complaining about how the economy has changed her business practices and is fearful that she may start seeing men that she would not ordinarily see under any other circumstances....being that she is very much UTR with very few reviews, i suggested more advertising, getting more exposure on these board and asking for reviews....any other suggestions???....this is not some shill post for i am not including her name and i am curious if any other providers are experiencing the same hardship

YUP sir_carpet_king, your ATF is on the money. Nearly every provider I have discussed this subject with has told me the same thing, i.e.  that the change of economy has resulted in hobbyists having less spendable monies. This can also be noticed in the ads by many established providers offering discounts. Besides the change of economy, also to be considered is the  over abundance of available providers including so very many young hotties entering the market when they find they can't get decent jobs to subsidize their education. Moereover, even after college graduation, not getting  work to pay off their student loans. I'm afraid to think that things might get worse before they get better. So be it.

The following FunPic may be an oldy but is depicted her due to its relevancy. So be it.

The top reviewed Providers that are $600 and up are doing fine thank you. The $200- $250 girls are doing OK in most cases.  It's the $250 - $500 group without great reviews that are really suffering.  Obama's economy sucks for most everyone, and there's no question most hobbyists have either cut down on frequency of provider sessions, OR have started seeing girls at lower price points.  The AMPS & Asian brothels are not suffering.

I would NEVER discuss my financial situation with a client.

If she is UTR she needs to get above that radar and work.

Thats all bullshit the guys who can afford 600 and up continue to pay for premium pussy! Look at the retail numbers Saks, Neiman Marcus continue to  do well in this economy because they cater to the 1% to 5% who can afford and yes I prefer young 21-25 new smacking new providers then providers who have hundreds  of reviews and are on sale at TJ Maxx / Marshslls

And $600 isn't even close to the high-end in escorts in NYC.

$600 is the midrange or slightly higher than the midrange.  Think Brooks Brothers or maybe even Armani, but not Brioni.

The uber-high-end isn't what you are talking about, and the girls who are commanding the really big bucks aren't the ones peddling their wares here on TER.  That's the true elite.

Lots of women in the $500 to $600 range are feeling the squeeze.  The clientele who see them are not the guys who are making seven figures, but more likely guys making six figures.  Big difference there in terms of disposable income.

Trust me...lots of girls are having a hard time in this economy, and the fact that it's the holidays, and everyone has their hands out (doormen, building staff, support staff at work, family, spouses, girlfriends, mistresses) combined with the fact that bonuses are clipped to nonexistent, plus job cuts...well, don't compare retail numbers from Saks and Neiman to $600+ providers.

The average purchase at Saks and Neiman isn't $600+.

Providers aren't cutting their rates for everyone and publicizing it, but pricing is definitely soft and not firm, especially if you are a repeat client.

My phone regularly goes off from providers and bodyrub girls I have seen in the past who are looking to generate some revenue.  One old bodyrub provider has been texting me every few months; she texted me just this morning.

Discounts are there, even if they aren't explicitly advertised.

Louis Vuitton is doing just fine.  So are the cheap handbag makers.

But Coach?  Taking it in the rear right now...

Has been texting me regularly for me to stop in.

She is now offering the hour for $140...same session.  Probably could get extras thrown in there for not a lot more.

I agree, she wants something from you.  I barely advertise here in NYC, and I can get one a day!  Not sure what her expenses are, but she must have some kind of budget!  Sounds like she is trying to get some sympathy from you in the form of money.  Just my opinion though.  AAT

You market yourself well.  You have fun specials.  You update your pics often, and you share them.  You have great reviews.  You treat your clients well.  You truly are very attractive, whereas some providers really aren't much more than slightly above average.

And your personality rocks.

So...you're not really a good proxy for everyone else.  :)

Well, thank you sugar:-)  I was looking at it like this; if she is a UTR provider who has done well in previous economic times, she had to be providing great service to keep her clients steady.  She wasn't relaying on her ads to bring her new clients, and she was good with her $ then, right?  Now she is telling him things are so bad she is thinking of seeing shady guys?  Doesn't add up? And, for arguments sake, lets say she is being 100% forthcoming, and her steady wonderful clients and income just vanished, and left her financially desperate.  She then tells her client (the only one that didn't vanish), she is considering seeing unsavory guys?  I don't know, sounds like the setting for the beginning of a series of tragic events?  And, who would she call?  Yep, him!  If it was me, I wouldn't be jeopardizing what little money I had coming in, by telling my client I was going to see questionable clients.  What if he got spooked and stop calling too?  I would be asking him how to get above the radar, or if he could review me, or introduce me to other providers who could guide me.  The drama of it all, makes me think she will need to be "rescued" soon, and she is setting him up to be the hero.  Very Young and the Restless, risking ones safety, rather than just ask for help? Or, get an extra job?

I want to say this now though, I don't know this woman at all, and if for some crazy reason her situation is so bad that she is desperate enough to risk her safety, have her contact me.  There are other solutions for her to regain finanical control, and I can show the open doors.  I would be more than happy to help out.

How is she finding shady clients if she is UTR? The bus stop?

I know one right now that went from making peanuts in her legit job to making nearly $10k/month with steady appointments.  That's, of course, $10k/month in after-tax money, which is the equivalent of about $18k/month in NYC before-taxes.  Which is $216k/year in before-tax money.  And yet even at this amount of money, she lives check to check, with no savings.  She just ramped up her lifestyle to be commensurate with her earnings, and now it's to the point that she's bitching about how she isn't getting enough bookings (she has probably three to five clients per week and charges a healthy rate, plus usually gets a multi-hour during the week).

Many girls who do this aren't the sharpest tools.  Money isn't a strong suit for them, and if they are used to living check to check, then more money just means a better lifestyle.  It doesn't mean keeping the same lifestyle and then saving more, which is what a logical person might do, especially given the very volatile, flavor-of-the-month nature of this business.

I would guess is she like this one girl I am thinking of.

Not that Dollar Bill is completely unbiased but he reports that things ARE slow at many AMPs and he's always trying to generate interest in (and business for) his clients.

There seems to be a fast lane now for beautiful 21 year old newbies.  They come out of nowhere, gather a few deserved strong reviews and their rates that began at 500 or 600 actually climb from there !
