Is a ways north and west of NYC, and rather bucolic. Just be sure to note that NYC is the central hub of this region, and the distance you are planning to live from the city will require you to have a car. NYC has an active hobbying community, there are periodic M&G's, and you will probably wish to promote yourself using these as a platform. Also, you should plan to visit NYC on a regular basis, as well as surrounding areas such as Rockland/Westchester counties in NY, Fairfield county in CT, and areas in North Jersey, and Long Island.
