thank you

I would suggest Midtown area. I find Midtown West offers more restaurants and nightlife.
Safe travels

From the main page of the NY Discussion board, use the Search button to find prior discussions about "best places" and such.  I often reply to such Qs with a subject line of content of "Neighborhood Map". Because the search function is broken, just search "Neighborhood" and Author "impposter" and you'll get many threads on "where to stay". NOTE: MOST OF THE INFO WILL BE PRE-COVID but, I hope, still relevant.
.
East side vs West side; Uptown vs Downtown; Manhattan vs Brooklyn; etc. vs etc..  Ask more Qs if you've got 'em.
.
Good luck!

Brooklyn is becoming more popular but if this is your first trip to NYC, start with Manhattan.
.
Once you find a general location (e.g., Lenox Hill or SoHo = "SOuth of HOuston Street", pronounced House-ton, NOT You-stun), use google maps, pick an address and "Find Hotels Near Me." In general, people do NOT name names on the boards but they will be more specific in PM (private messaging).
.
Good luck

You’re getting a lot of good info here!  I recommend Midtown East, adjacent to Grand Central Terminal, quieter and fewer tourists than west side, a lot of nice smaller hotels.  Easy walk to Times Square, theaters etc.
