Same trouble at first

I briefly shared an incall with another provider last summer and I kept an old laptop there for both of us to use. We were both logging in for weeks with it. When I finally requested POB access I was declined as it was too sketchy.

I didn't understand why as we were both providers!

They said they still enforce it to limit one provider using two personas...

have been told my access to providers only board been denied because of of ip addresses.. bought a new laptop and used it yesterday and now im having ter ip address issues.// could the new laptop cause this??

i was denied access because they said that i was sharing devices with other ter members.  i bought a used tablet then sold it and then it was given back to me because the person got a much better one.  this is the only thing i can think of that caused my ip problem.

I got a great deal on a reconditioned laptop by dell..what are the chances the old owner had ter? and doesn't my access code from my home have the same ip address as my desk top?

I know, but you can still request access from different IP addresses within the same login max period. Laptop, iPad, iPhone, all logged in at the same time.

that's why I don't have PO board access yet. I had no idea why TER kept telling me I wasn't allowed access until they FINALLY explained why when I pushed for it... now I have to wait three MORE months.

Are you friends with a provider who may have used your computer?

Sometimes TER clowns are clueless. Turn off your Computer and Internet modem before going to sleep and turn it back on in the morning.

You most probably get new IP

Every time you log in from the road...hotel WiFi, Starbucks, your phone, etc, you're more than likely logging in with a different IP address. I can't imagine how the address could be relevant unless you're logging in from an IP that has been flagged. Have you tried to log in from a different location? What about using your phone?

Assuming you are using DSL or Cable modem for Internet, TER doesn't see your Lap Top address. One thing you can try is to turn of the DSL or Cable modem off for about 30 minutes and turn it back on. You will get a different IP most of the time.

There are two forms of IP addresses - static (never changes) and dynamic (frequently changes).  Most businesses spend the extra bucks for static, but most residential accounts are dynamic and therefore always changing.  And... as a posted pointed out earlier,  every change of location (hotel, cafe, public wifi, etc) creates a new IP address.  IP addresses are tracked by the cookies in your computer, but that's likely not your problem.  Sounds much more likely you've got a tracking virus, and those usually aren't easy to get rid of.  Take two aspirin and buy a new laptop!

Good luck...

If you have a tracking virus, run a virus scan, delete all findings.
Install Do Not Track Me (free program software), install "superantispyware" free program from CNET, install "Malwarebytes" free software, run full scans.
If you have a bug these should find them and remove.
Most likely TER found another person logging into your account (since your history and password was probably saved on the other providers touring computer) because you never deleted the history after using and gave the other provider full access to your info.
You should be cleaning your machine everyday prior to shutting down.
Another good thing about the Superantispyware free program you can overwrite free space on your machine so the info can not be accessed upon disposal or LE problems. Hitting delete never really deletes unless you overwrite that free space.

TER is likely assuming that one person is emulating both a client and a provider thus banning your access to PO board.

...after I let a client try to post a review from my laptop. I logged out of my account and let him log into his. Guess their system can't tell the difference? *shrugs*.

... I have NO idea if it's true but was told by an ex-heavy hitter so have always wondered if it's possible. He told me that TER is able to identify the hardware any given user employs. For example, he told me that if a provider has been permanently banned from TER that she would have to buy a whole new computer if she were going to try to re-join TER under a new alias/username.

I can't imagine that you would have problems if you're logging in as yourself but perhaps there's a bug or glitch somewhere that's getting you into trouble. The multiple IPs might be because you're on tour and logging in at different locations. If this is the case you should PM them to let them know that's what you think the issue might be.

Good luck!!!
