 what the correlation is, vis-a vis your "Ode to an 18 year Old", unless you are trying to point out that your son will ultimately pay for the stadium through taxes?

That being said, I have to work almost one day a week just to cover my property taxes,( most of which is school tax), so forgive me if I'm a tad bitter. I could care less about the new stadium, one way or the other, but I empathize with those who will bear the burden of it's construction. Don't really have a dog in the fight! Go Jets! My two cents!

Taxpayers should not bear the expense of building new stadiums for sports teams.  Do they share the profits with us?  If they can't afford it, let them move somewhere where they can afford it, or let their owners absorb the losses.  Why should they be financed, in whole or in part, by the general public?  The only exception to this (I think) is the Green Bay Packers, who are "owned" by the public in Wisconsin.

I wouldn't be surprised if the idea of the public paying for stadiums goes back to when the Romans had their empire.
