Don't know anything about  agency ethnic selection propensity, but do know that becoming an agency (of other girls) brings a whole 'nother level of prosecutorial risk.

does agencies in NYC not accept black women into their agencies?

Even a few of these ad websites, only feature the fair skinned women. I applied to be featured on a ad website, and my application is still "pending" and its been 5 months.

Are there any agencies that DO feature black women? Or do I have to start my own agency.

I can think of some places I've visited with an assortment of ladies. The biggest problem I see is the mismatch between your rates and their rates. You, almost certainly, would not agree to their highest rate which would even be less for you when they subtract their fee.

A new girl listed at a huge premium might not get any customer requests at all. An established agency has repeat clientele who come to know what to expect for their dinero. Other girls get jealous, owner has to raise her rates, loses customers ...

I can't think of any agencies with starting fees in your ball park (or vice versa: with a ball park where you would want to play).

There are the "elite ad malls" which seem to have a common theme but they are all indies.

Have you considered engaging the services of a booking agent? (Check the NY Ad board for ads posted by your gfe assistant but there are others.)

Have a Happy Holiday and a Happy New Year!

Holy Smokes those are some pics. And some reviews!  Don't know anything about NYC agencies, but Imposter has been VERY helpful to me with info and guidance (many thanks, again), and seems very well-informed as to local knowledge, so I'd read and re-read his post 2-3 times....

As for me, I've not seen a non-Asian provider in years and years, but I'd make a BIG exception for a lady with your looks and rating.

There was a time when I was just starting out, and for some reason believed that agencies would help me get started.

The amount of discrimination was intense, especially because I have always had my natural hair.

After talking with quite a number of them, I decided that there was no need to continue pursuing that direction, for a variety of reasons. However, it did leave a sour taste in my mouth that they would not accept me - I chock it up to the commodity based business model that they operate under. They are dealing in bulk, and need a consistent product. On the whole it's nothing personal.

However, the individual prejudices that I encountered were somewhat heartbreaking. I would call to interview (this is before the days when the masses had readily available internet), and because I am an articulate and un-accented West Indian, they would be thrilled that such an intelligent young coed was interested in joining.

Then, they would see me. Their shock was palpable.

"You sound white on the phone." Was almost the universal reply.

I'm pretty much used to that now, especially because I've heard it over and over again in many of my mainstream business endeavors as well.
