Hey hobbyists:  Has anyone seen the consumer confidence numbers that were reported on Tues.  Lowest level of consumer confidence since 1993.  That means people are scared!!!  They are not spending money, in fear that they will not have a job etc.

How then can the providewrs still ask prices that are that of major appliances that last more than one hour!!!
Its time they realize its better to work at lower rates than sit around answering the telephone and watching Jerrry Springer or Oprah all afternoon.

Its time they run specials for one day a week, have a two tiered pricing structure.  Lower rates until 5P then their usual rates for the evening.  Sounds fare.  The mayor of NYC wants to charge toll son the incoming Manhattan crossing with a two tiered struture, higher rates when biz is brisk and lower rates when the city is quiet with special rates on certain days.

Its time we think with our big head and tell the little head that it will not be working well if the entire body is laid off.

Yeah, but if you can't afford a dishwasher, you have to do it by hand. Seriously, in a free economy, everything takes care of itself. Since we can be pretty sure that demand will stay the same, either prices will come down due to over supply, or many women will leave the business because they aren't doing enough business. I was spoiled in Europe where you could go to the local brothels, which are legal in some countries, without emptying an ATM machine.

Of the many threads attacking this subject, you have made a very solid point - that in a struggling economy with businesses competing for the same dollar, some of them will fall by the wayside.  Those that stay in usually provide their customers with outstanding service and competitive pricing, thereby guaranteeing repeat business.

Your analysis is quite accurate, although there is always the possibility that the economy will quickly revive (admittedly, not very likely) and stimulate demand.  For the record, I know of one lady who quit the business and two more who seem to have lowered their prices a bit.  More will follow.

Well said, now to the over-supply. There is also an over-supply of sectys, recpts, personal trainers and wives. So what else can these women do except matress-back?

Their prices have to come down, or we are all suckers.

I went through this on other posts so I won't be repetitive. It seems that many of these people are as stated either suckers, desperate or spend what little they have on this activity.
From what I gather, the providers prefer to earn much less money rather than lower the price below a certain level.  The reason being is if they go below a certain price (I am not certain as to what that number is, it may vary), then they will attract a type of clientele which they don't want to deal with.
In a way I can see their point of view but on the other hand, they may also attract some very nice, handsome men who simply can't afford to pay the high prices now.
