I know, they gave allot of warning concerning adult sites but I agree that it is unfair that they keep your funds for so long. Check out this website and post your story there as well. I hear of these stories all the time. Simply don't add your website to their profile. Good Luck!
hello everyone! i just wanted to share my experience of paypal with as many people as possible and figured this would be the best way to do it.i am a provider with links to paypal on my website. today, paypal.com closed my account without warning. they cancelled all the transactions i made earlier in the day and told me that i had to removed ALL paypal content fom my website because it was of an "inappropriate" nature. upon doing so i would receive credit for my purchases that were made earlier in the day. i could then withdraw all of my money from the account using my paypal debit card or they would transfer it to my bank account thus my account would be permantly closed. i followed all their directions and did everything they wanted me to do including removing their logo from my website then the went back on their word. they told me it would be 180 days before i received a credit back to my account and if i had any compliants i had to address the compliance department. if the paypal account had been nearly empty i wouldn't have been so upset but i had over $300 in it that i may have to wait for for 6 months. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE all providers discontinue your use of paypal and spread it around to as many providers and hobbyist as you know! i am in serach of a new service to replace paypal, once i find one i'll let you all know.
Paypal sent out notices that as of May 14 (?) that they would no longer be accepting transactions from sites that offer adult services. It seems they are being very vigilant about this new policy.
They also sent notices that they no longer accept "Inappropriate"materials being traded on E-bay.Such as Pictures, Vidoes, DVD's Etc. They truly (pardon the expression) suck. I suggest using: YAHOO.PAYDIRECT, OR c2it.
This is gettingtoo close to a "Big Brother Is Watching" state of affairs.!!!.
Since they merged or bought E-bay they've been doing some revamping. Their a publicly traded company so I think their examining their liabilities. They've probably had their share of complaints about adult services fraud as well. Very few people are aware that American Express doesn't accept merchant accounts for escorts serivces.
Actually, ebay acquired paypal. Both were publicly traded. Ebay (ebay), Paypal was (pypl). Paypal got alot of heat from people using online gambling and fronts for laudering money for terrorist in the wake of 911. They settled with the SEC, part of the settlement was to be more proactive in being more socially responsible.
Thanks RMV17: I read about the acquisition some months ago but didn't retain the details. There are alot of pay mediums that won't do business with adult services. I know a few who lost thousands when American Express froze their merchant accounts.
PayPal is an excellent funds transfer utility. Owned by Deutche Bank and the merger. Have used a few years with no problems. The problem does arise however, from many money for nothing escorts ripping guys off left and right. PayPal is only protecting the user which is in of itself a good thing.
