are the rates the agencies post the full rate for an hour of the girls time (wink) or do the girls expect to get paid in addition to the 300 agency rate?

With an agency, the girls expect a tip.

Do you get tipped for things you do in your job. Most of us would have to answer NO ( unless you're a waiter or delivery boy etc.).The outrageous rates being paid are certainly sufficient and if the owners of the agencies were concerned with the girls being happier or earning more then they could change the percentage arrangement that they have.

Regarding the earlier post, it has not been my experience that tips were required or expected.  None of the ageny girls I've seen have mentioned a tip and they seemed very appreciative when they got one.

As an ex agenxy owner the rate is generally split 50/50, some places may make the girl tip out to security or the phone girl, but alot dont, I never did I felT by tipping the phone girl you'd be paying her off for pushing a particular girl and in a brothel situation the person running the show has alot of power on who gets suggested and who doesn't so by tipping them it made it real easy for unfairness, so i frowned on that.

Tipping a girl from an agency should be only IMHO if she goes beyond the call of duty, if she does what is expected of her, well you paid for that already right? It is common practice to tip agency girls something but IMO it should be only if they made you very happy and provided things alot of others wouldnt for te same rate.

Now Indies which I am now, we generally do not get tipped. Guys figure we keep the whole shebang so why a tip? I never expect anything extra from my rate (greek flights being the only extra on my menu) Now if I go our of my way pick you up at the train station bring you to the hotel anfterwards drop you back (which I have done numberous times for NYC men who visit me in Brooklyn but have no car), if I really really go out of my way it is appreciated but never expected. As an indie I am grateful to get my fee, I earn my fee, my sessions earn my fee, an attractive face will get you through the door, a great session will keep you there as will as great personality will keep them coming back. Personally I'd rather you just pay my fee be happy and revisit next time I'm in your neck of the woods.

Conn cumming your way!

that tipping an agency girl was expected -- like tipping at a restaurant -- and thus a part of the fabric of the john/girl interaction.

I would like to hear more on this from others (and more from Sam).  If I have been a sucker all along, well, now is the time to learn.

From time to time, I have tipped indies, but only nominally, like $20 to let them know I appreciated their services.

For agencies, I have generally tipped 20%, but never less than $50.

I've only used a few agencies and the girls always seemed pleasantly surprised when I tipped them.  It could just be the agencies.

But, I have to admit that unless I have a subpar session, I generally tip the provider, whether she's an independent or with an agency, although I rarely see independents any more since it's been difficult getting appointments with indies.

I agree - I have used la-elite and have had no issues not in LA, or NYC. No tipping was ever required, but I would tip - $50 - $100 if I like dthe girl, but no more than that!

so i guess $300 agency rate is the same as $300 indy? why would a hot agency girl except a 50/50 split? I always thought you call the agency, $300 is their take and the girls work up from there? Not true?

You're not necessarily being a sucker. If tipping makes you feel good, then by all means tip. But don't feel like you _have_ to tip. After all, these girls make a little more than your average waitress. I've always shown my appreciation by coming back. On occasion, I've padded the till when I had my world rocked.

" making a little more than the average waitress". Are you joking??? How about making more than the average person that visits them and that posts on this board.

I always felt a little chintzy tipping what I did, but there are different economic realities for me than for some of folks who make more than me (on this board).

I think I am more confused at this point than anything else....

I will always tip a girl, if she rocks me, that means she will get more. If she was O.K. I will still tip her, I will usually tell the owner I was not really into it, and not see her again. I feel it is a service industry, and if the service is exceptional, you should tip accordingly. IMHO

I always figured that the women at the agencies charging between 200 and 350 should receive a tip if they perform as one would expect.  In other words, only subpar performance warrants no tip.  I say that because many of these women are expected to tip or contribute for security, phone person, etc.  When the agency split is taken into account, they are making less than fifty percent of what we are paying.  It's obviously still not a bad day's pay for them, but let's face it, the work is not easy.  So I figure the right thing to do is to budget in a tip.  As to indies, I agree that they are keeping the whole fee and so no tip is necessary (unless something extraordinary transpires).  Finally, as to agencies like NY Confidential, given the rates that they charge, there certainly should be no tip contemplated under any circumstances.
