For anyone that has e-mailed me and not recieved a response it is because I can not send mail but I can recieve it so I know many of you have contacted me. They are still on dial up here and I have a data port , but do not know the correct configurations for msn (my dial up emergency service lol )and to try and get it through the number they give you takes forever and ever,
. So my mail will not be answered until Thursday. Sorry for any inconvienience. I'm usually extremely good about returning e-mails, as well as voice mails. So, chances are if you have e-mailed me and have not recieved a response I'm away from my pc or unable to answer, not being rude! If you have left me a vm and have not heard back within 24hrs it's because I couldn't understand the message or perhaps you specified that eve and I could not accomodate you . For now perhaps my cell phone is a better means of getting in touch with me until Thursday morning. Have a great day, and again I'm sorry for anyone who missed out because of this but there is always Dec!
Sam no offense here love but actually regrdless of connection or speed you need to get with the times. You should ditch these free email deals and get an address set up for you and attached to your current web page by the company that hosts your site, this is affordable and can also be accessed via webmail which is convenient for the reason you described.
You should look into getting a Blackberry. Since I got mine I haven't taken my laptop on the road and I travel often. The initial cost is ~$400 and you'll pay $15 a month for service. Coverage is excellent and you could also use it as a phone if you don't want to carry both. Whoever manages your site should be able to help set it up for you. If not let me know, maybe we could work something out (wink, wink).
Not rude at all. I am not sure what kind of info you are looking for but here is a rundown. It works like a normal PDA in that it will keep your address book, your calendar, tasks and all the other bells and whistles you would expect. What makes it great is that it will work in conjuction with your email account and forward emails from your inbox when you are not logged onto your computer. You can also write emails and reply to the ones you receive. It is a little annoying to write emails with but as long as you keep things short and to the point it is not bad at all. I have mine set up through my network at the office but I know that you can use it from your personal account for ~$15 a month. Most hotels charge that for 1 day of high speed access so it is well worth it. The newer ones also have cell phones built into them. Mine has a phone but I don't use that feature. I tried it but it was too awkward for me. I hope that helps. Let me know if you have more questions.
not sure i would want my email (stored insecurely no less) sitting on a blackberry when it gets lost of worse...in the hands of LE. try to convince anyone of encryption and watch the responses.
hacking wireless is easier and easier by the day. blackberry is at the top of the list.
Samantha. I Feel for you for sure. Most often when I go traveling on my merry way..whether it be for my business or this ..One or two things happen.. Hotels computer systems that are there to accomodate us are not working.. are being repaired..Dial up doesnt work... takes one hour to call AOL MSN .. whatever dial up we are using for new settings... it still doesnt work..
Or for some reason or another my cell signal is blocked in some hotels.. I receive no phone calls and tons of VM's hours later.. even changed cell providers.. same thing.. changed phones.. same thing.. different lap tops.. same thing..
Or... (Drumroll)Both Happen !! LOL!! (holding head )
The only time I really go through this is when I stay at a certain Melville hotel , who is in the process of changing over. I could easily use [email protected](what would be my addy if i used the one from my domain name) , I have verizon DSL and am not all that knowlegeable about setting up e-mail accounts, pop 3 and smpt(?) incoming/outgoing, that is too much. So I use my reg addy from Verizon, [email protected], 95% of the time (unless I use a hot sheet motel in nassau, or that one suffolk hotel ) I can use my reg outlook. For the other 5% I have an msn pay account to utalise it on the road (not all msn accounts are free especially when you use one for internet access when there is dial up only). My e-mail addy is pretty well known to those that need to know it, and I'll be needing it another 6 months anyway. I'm certain I'll switch accounts when I move, but then again I won't be using it for appointments, just people I keep in touch with after the fact.
