As Bill accurately pointed out, anything anywhere can be hacked into.
As an additional security act what I would recommend is when your on the TER site you should turn off your lights, sit quietly with your eye's closed and I'll bet if they are hacking the site, they won't see you.
Of course, everything posted here and all reviews are 100% fiction.
That being said, can LE hack into TER to obtain IP addresses on reviews and Discussion Board postings? In the last few years, there have been stories about Total Information Awareness, Echelon, etc.
I'm not an attorney, but I would have to believe that it would be difficult to prove unless someone was set up and caught red handed. That being said I would love to hear from some attorneys, cops and judges. I'm sure a few dabble in the hobby.
Awhile back you mentioned that you use a PDA. If someone managed to hack into Paris Hilton's SideKick, it's far more likely they would hack into your PDA then the TER website. I would worry about the security of wireless devices more.
Quote: "What would they charge you with, having a vivid imagination?"
Hey I've been charged with that...nasty punishment for that one, makes what happened to Winston Smith in Orwell's 1984 look like a pleasurable experience...I would have bribed someone for that rat cage thing.
As they explained it to me, it's dangerous to have an imagination, because then you can think of ways things might be better...you can form opinions, you could even become, "DoC" forbid, an idealist, you might even think victimless crimes shouldn't be crimes...you might think for yourself...and then what if you found others that thought for themselves? Imagination and the ideas that come from them can change the world...that's where the real danger lies...I used to be one of those free thinking types, but since my retraining and redoctrination...I am much better now.
Oh, and 2+2 does in fact equal 5...but only for really large values of "2".
As for the original thread querry, anything can be hacked...but in this case it wouldn't have to be.
First , any site can be hacked, for every measure of protection a counter measure can be developed to get in.
The other fact is if they want to get in here they don't need to hack, they simply pay the price of admission like everyone else.
LE can get in legally if they want to and have sufficient reason to justify a supoena for all records. Personally I can't see them wanting to spend the time and money to do this and I'm sure they have much bigger fish to fry
If there are laws violated they can charge you but that doesn't mean they can convict you.
