NYC Hobbyist Poker

Hello fellow hobbyists!  

I have been using TER for at least 5 years, but this is my first time posting on the discussion boards. Also, I value good providers, so I don't write reviews, my sincerest apologies, but I am what I am LOL.  Although I am a spring chicken in my mid-30s, I have been a hobbyist/fun addict since I was in my teens. So, the reason for my post, I am looking for a partner to start a poker game in NYC for other wealthy hobbyists like myself.  There is just so much stigma and judgement IRL regarding what we love to do.  I would love to get together with other guys who love chics as much as I do.  We can compare different spots, strategies, amounts paid, and great stories over poker and drinks.  I am new to "discussion boards" and don't have much of a network to find other hobbyists for the game and want to see if there is anyone on here that does.  

Please note this is for normal and nice gentlemen, no A*holes, weirdos (sexual weirdos ok), thugs, or shady people.  

Also, if you're interested in playing, send me a message please.

M&G's, dude...

These are the best way (in my personal experience), to network within the hobby.  You'll  not only meet some of the posters here on the boards, but also some of the best providers in the hobby, from everywhere.  :)

Great idea

I think it's a great idea actually. But sadly my meager "wealth" excludes me from raising my hand from joining, but I hope it works for you. You could even get a group of guys, a couple providers and make one helluva evening of it.

I totally agree, I'm hoping that's what the gathering will eventually evolve into.  A bunch of good natured hobbyists having a good time.  Getting providers to come hang out, golf outings with providers, drinking sessions with providers, etc ... lol

Follow Crazy Diamond's advice.

And you may (I repeat MAY) find some guys willing to play.  But please do not expect many girls "come hang out" or play golf or drink.  What you're asking for is OTC time, which may or may not come after you've gotten to know a few fairly well.  I hate the phrase "my fee is for my time only" as much as the next monger, but in this case it's true.  These gals are in this business to get paid for their time, not to "hang out" with us.

There used to be an underground lap dance club that had a poker game.

Best of both worlds.  

Too bad it's gone.

thanks for the comment .. i am a seasoned pro, i am completely aware of having to pay for their time .. why would they show up to any planned event unless the provider was going to get paid .. but thank you anyway for your concern

The lap dance club scene, in general, wasn't for me, but I liked this twist.

You didn't mention what sort of stakes you were thinking of for the poker game

re: game stakes

A little higher than the stakes I play for in casinos (I cap my games at 5/10, $2000 by-in) but I would be interested if you can get something set up. My only concern is potential safety, which is why I have not played at any of the underground poker houses in NYC.
