like her look. and, I'm sure she will be great with "shorter" hair. I should have thought about how girls are very sensitive to getting their hair cut or changed.

I've been thinking about giving back. I am interested in a beautiful haircut but I would like to donate my long ponytail to leukemia/cancer patients. I haven't cut my hair since grade school so I have no idea how to go about it. Any input on Locks of Love or something of the sort? :)

I found this article (from 2010) on Time Out New York.

Because is 2 years old, is better if you contact the places receiving donations for an update.

Some salons will give you a free haircut in lieu of your hair donation.

Great job by you Madison for even thinking about it!  A friend of mine (male) did it several years ago. It is a great cause!!

Don't list it under the special interest section of your civvie resume.

It got one guy noticed but not in a good way. Lol.

hope to meet you before you make the change.

I'm not going short short! Just to my shoulders, and if a hair cut changes people's mind about me, well then I wouldn't want to meet someone so shallow anyway.

I'm sure you will look beautiful. I was complimenting you on your hair. As well as other features.

You told me you could only see her with the long hair.

I strongly disagreed with you.

Lol.

What I said in the last post

Luke didnt say that to me.

Thanks for playing along.

I love those long locks of yours!  But I also know you'll be gorgeous without them.  And it's nice to know you're beautiful on the inside, too.

good virgin longer hair may cost over 5000
So ... be sure to deliver it free to your charity or some one just will benefit from your hair not you
but may be it is doesn't matter..for me it would be .. matter ...

And before doing so I did a lot of research on Locks of Love, and I suggest you do the same if you are considering donating to them. (google locks of love vs pantene)

I ended up donating my hair to Pantene Beautiful Lengths. They actually sent me a nice letter afterwards, so I know they received it.

Good luck, and I hope everything goes well.

Thank you that's very helpful Farrah :

Agree... did the research myself too and ended up going with Pantene over LoL a few years back as well as getting it chopped w someone very close to me. And deff same...you get a very nice letter saying they received it. Beautiful cause. Hair is just hair...will always grow back. May do it again soon myself. Best of luck to you Madison.

You should be aware though, in case it matters to you, that many of these organizations receive more hair than is needed for wigs for cancer patients, so they sell much of what they receive to commercial wig makers and use the cash to fund their operations.

as with any cause really in knowing just where its going...the point for me is that many of us who are fortunate to have hair vs those who may need it for whatever reason, is something that until you don't have it anymore do you truly know what it feels like  to 'need' it. As long as its being used to help someone somewhere for whatever reason then I'm good with that... no matter who is benefiting on the bottom line....at least for me that's how I see it.

There's really no guarantee for any donation or giving to a cause unless your truly hand delivering it yourself. It truly is the 'thought' that counts. There is a big benefit I go to every year that I support because I hold it very dear to my heart and its nothing to take lightly to attend. You just hope that that donation is going towards what its truly supposed to be supporting. I guess you just have to believe in your heart it does.
