Yup. Many moons ago when I was a fresh faced young lad. Been allover the Pacific, Bering Sea, Indian Ocean, the Persian Gulf, etc...... I'm a very salty dog. ;)

the fare at the seaport. If I were you I would walk over to Stone Street, about 4-5 blocks away, a few different places to either dine in or sit outside and grab a bite. All very good and better than the Seaport.

Is REALLY good. The place is casual/dressy. Also, Nelson Blue. New Zealand bar/restaurant. Great open air dining room. Awesome on a sunny day! I find the places on the pier or dock to be not great food and tourist laden.

can any of you recommend a great eatery?

Thanks!

I love Carmines but Stella's is awesome too.

italian octavia? You are speaking to someone who has never eaten at the SSSP LOL...I know....its a crime

Gosh when you said SSSP I thought of SPQR.... that was such a great place but it's in little italy.. or was...

If you mean the Carmine's at Beekman and Front Streets, it's been closed for about a year.

Used to be a brothel......

Used to be a completely different restaurant years ago....

I fell in love for the first time of my life there in '92....

thanks! you had me on "it used to be a brothel" LOL

that was where the food came from last night.

thanks octavia...the food was awesome...especially the chik/moz combination...perfect

Yeah, that was good stuff. You'll never hear me complain about a hangar steak sandwich!

I find it ironic that I'm a sailor and I fell in love there!!!

Some things never change......

Where else would a sailor fall in love?  Hell, I was never a sailor and I fell in love in brothels all the time.  Why there was this one girl......

you fall in love at least once a week LOL but thats what we love about you

But, yes, and please add Serena Woodsen to the ladies I am in love with!

Bridge Cafe on Water street right under B'klyn Bridge

I hope some of these places are open sunday early evening

and go to the River Cafe.  Best to have a guy take you there on a date.

no desire to do any boros :) Is MJ a god steak house...quality meat?

Of course, great quality meat, and they have a pretty good menu for a steakhouse. Get a slice of grilled bacon- nice and thick and hot and tasty.
If you are in the Seaport, Brooklyn is a 5 minute taxi ride away, and The River Cafe is spectacular- on a moored barge at the foot of the bridge, fixed price menu really top quality, and they have a car service to take you back.  Do you want to be in Manhattan looking at Brooklyn, or in Brooklyn looking at Manhattan?
