For those of you who only get their news from TER, an elevator dropped 3 floors in a Chelsea building. No one killed a bunch hurt. One of my pet fears is falling in an elevator.
1. I like the extra excercise. My legs always look better when I go out of my way to take the stairs. 2. There are always so many people in the elevator and I dont like being squashed into a small space with lots of people 3. I have somewhat the same fear as you. I think its from watching too many movies. But now you hear about it actually happening...
Im so glad no one was killed. I am sure they are going through shock right now also.

smart!! In another life i used to be a construction superintendent. One morning I was riding the elevator up with a car load of workers and it dropped about a floor or so. A guy behind me spilled his coffee all over my legs and I though i was paralyzed. Scared the crap out of me. But it was a high rise so I had no choice but to get back on. I also was stuck in an elevator and had to climb out. Yikes now I wont be able to sleep thinking about it.

Because I don't like coming into my appointment huffing and puffing. Granted I'm a young, muscular guy...but 1) the adrenaline is pumping from the excitement of the hobby and 2) walking, or navigating the subway, from my office in Times Square to the Incall, typically in Midtown East (bahhh, LOL, JK).
Has anyone Google'd the odds of an elevator incident?? Actually, come to think about it, when my office first opened in 2002, a security guard died in the frieght elevator when it dropped 20-something of the 37 floors. Eeekkk.
I thought this was a topic of discretion when visiting a providers hotel... now its a safety hazard?! GOD forbid but if i need to get to the 69th Fl i will take my chances. ain't that much exercising in the world.

That was aggressively running his electric wheelchair into the elevator doors for whatever reason I think he was pissed and trying to get the elevator to open again. Anyway,it opened and he drove it but iit was just the shaftway and rode it straight into and down the empty shaft! It was crazy!
