1.) It is the day two loaves of bread were offered as the firstfruits of the wheat harvest. First, the Festival of Unleavened Bread had the wavesheaf as the firstfruits of barley; this foreshadowed Yahshua himself the firstfruit of man resurrected to eternal form. Then seven weeks later, Harvest had the wave offering of the firstfruits of the wheat harvest made into two loaves of bread with yeast; a foreshadow of the Hebrews and Gentiles being the firstfruit of a now joined people, the people of Yahweh. 2.) It was then on this day that the followers of Messiah were endued with power from on high (the Ruach Hakodesh) to help them walk according to Yahweh’s guidance, direction, and teaching; to thereby overcome the flesh, the world, and sin; and to teach others to also have faith in Yahshua for our atonement.
Roma 8:3 (NIV) For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, Yahweh did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in sinful man, 4 in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit.
At 10:43am I am chained to my desk. I am not going to post to TER from work.
I have heard that this board has lost some of its zip, but I think am doing my part to give it a push in the right direction. The problem is there are a small minority (you know who you are) who post regularly and try to make this place interesting. Many others just stop by when they need something and take off after the get it.
We need more perverts who are interesting and intelligent members willing to put in the time.
The holiday celebrates the bountiful new harvest in the new year. Celebrants eat al meals in a souki which is a tent like outdoor dining room with a roof made of reeds and bamboo stalks. People invite over friends, neighbors and other religions to celebrate the bountiful harvest for a meal. The first two days which concludes Tuesday night are the religious days. Next week there is another Jewish holiday where the religious writings/scroll the torah is celebrated. Its almost a month of straight holidays until Chanunukah in Dec, the Jewish gift giving Xmas.
No longer locally moderated, and alias abuse went wild for a couple of years that compelled Admin to take over moderation across the entire site. As a result, it's not the board we remember. Add to that that many of the characters we once knew have either retired from the game, passed away, or no longer post, and...you have your answer.
There must be a way for us to bring in new guys that have that old spark. I know we live I a different world with a bad economy........yet people do have discressionary money. 2 million IPhone sold in a couple of days. And yes people's mind are not at ease with the world on fire. But as I understand it a stiff cock trumps all that. I am also sure there are a lot of lurkers out there that just don't want to get involved. LETS GET THEM BACK. I know cause I was one for years after being very active. ANY IDEAS HOW TO BRING BACK THAT OLD ZING TO THE BOARD?
One of the keys to bringing life back is to have more commentary from the ladies. The advent of the ladies' ad board had the predicted downside of discouraging participation beyond posting ads, and whenever we've tried things to encourage their participation through things like "Provider of the Week", or theme days where the ladies' post pics, it gets shot down. Other boards, such as Florida, have this as a dominant feature for years, and it keeps things lively there. Not to forget mentioning, that it helps those ladies if/when they go on tour, including NY.
