New York

Problem with the internet is that it doesn't necessarily convey

What someone who has been living here for almost 10 years is gonna be able to tell you.  :)

Yeah, you can do the touristy stuff, or you can choose your restaurants based on a Zagat rating, but no better local color than finding it from, well, the locals.

My viewpoint...not to say that you're wrong.  You should definitely have the internet at your fingertips so you can check recommendations against sites like Zagat or Yelp.

I am visiting later this week and am wondering what you hobbyists and ladies love to do in Manhattan! I have a photoshoot and a few other things planned, but c'mon guys... where is the best pizza? Bagels? Long Islands? I'm hoping to stay near Time Square!

Any cool gay bars so I can find a cute lady to take home with me? ;) hehe.

The inquiries about the "best of NYC" has been discussed almost every week, so you can do a TER search like "best bagels" (or any other best you want to know) and you will get a bunch of suggestions from different local members.
For the places to visit while you are here, the best thing is to go to the TimeOut website or buy their magazine at any of our pharmacies (we have one on each corner).
I hope this helps.
Enjoy our city!

Doing research on the Internet. Im sure some nice guys will message you but there is nothing like having te Internet at your fingertips. ;-)

Rather than rely on the Top 25 or Top 100 or whatever.  Because those rankings mean, frankly, nothing to me.

I have found some of the coolest places by checking out travel forums. I don't follow zakat or Yelp. I like the sites where people fall so much in love with someplace that they want to let others know about it. I also like a lot of the shows on the travel channel such as No Reservations. And have found some awesome places from that.

I agree to ask people too. What I like to do when I am in a city is ask cab driver, or my bartender or other people at the bar or place I'm eating at!!!

Have fun!!

PIZZA!   adriennespizzabar   on Stone Street.
Seriously, it was awesome.   I have a cousin that lives right there too.  ON that street.
I stayed on Times Square too!  Had a blast!

Have fun with your photoshoot!

and THANK you to the NEW YORK WELCOME I received!!    I WILL be back!!!!

For me, the best pizza in the city is Arturo's on Houston around West Broadway.

But NYC pizza is so overrated.  I would put both Pat's and Giordano's in Chicago up against anything in NYC any day of the week.  Their thin crust is killer.

Get ready for a who is more New Yorker pissing contest lol

When I posted this msg I wasn't trying to be ignorant or lazy ( I know the internet is at my fingertips and the search works well ) but I had a terrible internet connection and was working with my phone! LOL. Thanks for putting up with another "whats in NY" thread. :) I'm so happy to be in this city!
