This is my wheelhouse, as I've supervised the development of quite a few websites...
If you can afford it, go to a real website designer / programmer that will design a real website for you. Don't get a template website. I think WIX is neat and all, but that's not a professional website. A professional website is one where you get your own domain name like (www.leveille.com) and you get a professional email like
[email protected] -- not a gmail account, not a yahoo account, none of that. If you want to be professional - present yourself like a professional.
As per website programming choices, make sure to stay away from Flash based programming. Unfortunately, I see this time and time again in provider websites. A provider will call on a website designer / programmer and the programmer / designer smells blood in the water (because you might not know what you're getting into) -- they quote you something like a few hundred bucks to design a website and they do this because (you guessed it) they are designing the site in Flash, which for programmers is very easy to design. It takes them very little effort to design a site that way - and if they are real sharks, they outsource the site design / programming to India for $100 and pocket the difference, without lifting a finger. Don't get fooled, the web design business is very dirty that way. But I digress, if you design a site in flash it will not behave well across all browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari and Chrome) and across all platforms such as laptops, desktops, tablets and smartphones. Be smart, get your website designed in HTML. it might be more expensive, but it will be viewable across the spectrum I mentioned above.
Yeah, there's a lot that goes into doing a website the right way. This is only the tip of the iceburg. That's why I've been asked to supervise website design / programming on quite a few websites. I keep the pinhead website designers / programmers in line to get the job done right.
Good luck and get it done right!

I have to make a new because mine apparently doesn't open on all browsers. That's a problem. When I contacted the tech peopl, they said there was nothing wrong on the site or on their end. But there's clearly a problem if people can't open the site. What should I use?
