It seems to be dominated by females and hobbyists who act more like women then men. Call them white knights or manginas if you will, but damn this board is more like and ad board with hobbyists crawling around on their knees begging for pussy.  

A few years ago there were at least some common sense hobbyists who had some really good input and subjects to discuss, not to mention some humor. What happened to those hobbyists? Where did the leaders go?

Some of the providers at least have some common sense, and yes I do hope they act like women.
It's more about the men who act girly on this board and the top hobbyists who seem to have disappeared.  

I do agree that there is much less valuable information on this board than in times past. It is one reason I have posted much less frequently, and review less often. But instead of constantly carping, and bemoaning the lack of leadership, why don't you try a positive approach and become a "leader." You have no reviews, at least attached to your handle. I'd welcome a return to an informative NYC board. Are you willing to assist in making that happen?

Hegel, I echo these sentiments.  I too have drastically reduced my presence here for the same reasons you and Phio mention.

who used to make this board interesting. I won't name them because if they wanted to post here they would. There is a huge void in substance here now, and all we are primarily left with are half ass themes, and hobbyists who crawl under every provider like they are beggars.

I still come around but , it used to be addictive on this board we had a great set of guys and gals .  
I wish i knew where they all went or that they would come back ... Of course personally i miss the K Trooper and K Troop  I loved those guys lol obviously Miss K

You must be talking about the providers who want to make this place into a flower garden of femininity full of nonsense like theme threads and hobbyists who have nylon infatuations.  

There used also to be good interactions between the hobbyists and providers back then. I am talking about substantive talk, not like now. Now it's a few few hobbyists who add nothing but drool and a few providers who think this is just another ad board.

As this is local vs general though it may be tougher to come up with general topics that are more for local interest. A lot of topics like relating to verification are best for the newbie board. A lot of questions related to best practices are more for the gd board. So we are left with what you are concered about.
I do support helping visiting ladies and making them feel welcome. I also want to recognize our local ladies - not sure how to do that without sounding like an ad or a shill. We need to think about some local related topics. I actuly live in jersey near NYC. I grew up in Manhattan so I consider myself a native of the Big Apple

First of all the the GD and newbie boards have been here forever. That has nothing to do with it.
It's NOT the topics that are missing, it is the posters.
This board used to be very active, now it is a shell of what it used to be.

You and nycad can fall on your knees all day and follow the providers around like puppies but even for amusement value, it is tiresome. It's like an overcooked steak, that last piece that no one really wants to eat.

The tone was different .It isn't anyones fault that's here now of course .
The game stayed the same the players changed is all.
To me it seems It used to be the girls would chat like one of the guys almost and it wasn't all self promoting .
The girls answered with answers they felt not that looked good.  
They said what they thought and were funny and fun doing it .
It sort of has gone stepford in a way all these perfect girls all going to give you the time of your life , all perfect answers .Like the nude sometimes lude escort version of the Miss America pagent  .
I recall Miki saying something like I Don't need everyone to like me I cant fuck that many people She was So great . So many others some not with us anymore sadly .
 However ! It is not impossible to reignite the old flame i do not think .
At least i always hope and come back to see how that's going lol I think if we want it to change we have to be the ones who change it.I would say it felt more like a comminuty then and less like a menu .  
I think it is normal for a website to change over time though and it's members .Being as a community online is built of what those members say and talk about the fact that the faces have changed makes the content , vibe and feel differ as time goes by . I liked the more honest approach though that we all had . There was a tighter nit feeling here . Many of the guys really were quite friendly with many of the guys and girls .Even when we had meet and greets we many of us knew eachother already and went out to party .Now it's girls handing out cards only about meeting potential clients , idk . The guys i went to meet and greets with i was already seeing 4 days a month on a schedule . We all had fun trading notes trading partners lol ..
 After a few headline high profile busts and the news went ahead and did stories on places like this and in fact this place so many people who never ever were involved in the hobby at all came in like an onslaught .It was like an inflitration . I don't call them fags and neither should you. Be proud of who you are. It is really upsetting to me to hear about someone being self tortured over their identity. It's 2013 and it is ok for you to come out of the closet. We are all open minded here in that respect. Don't beat yourself up over it

To solve a problem you have to recognize that it exists.  Many here don't seem to grasp that.

However, the problem that he is pointing out is that he doesn't like the people here.  

Philo isn't alone.  Hegel, Kendal, SLB and myself have essentially agreed with him.  

The people you reference agreed that the level of discussion on the site isn't as good as it once was.  While that's a valid point, it's a polite interpretation of what he was saying.  However, it's not what Philo's initial post was about.  He wasn't complaining about the quality of the posts so much as he was complaining about the people here.

With the turnover of TER and the enacting of new moderation the free-wheeling vibe of the place became really stifled. We used to have moderation on this board that was much more in tune with New York.
