I’m Jenna, a provider based out of Nashville. I’m visiting NYC at the end of the month (purely for leisure) and have a couple of questions for local ladies and gentlemen. I’m staying in the Chelsea area of Manhattan, but open to any areas. 1. Do you have recommendations for clubs/bars that have good dancing that aren’t a super young crowd? I’m looking for something with average age of 30’s - 40’.s Good vibes, good music, and dancing would be great. 2. Any good bars or restaurants off the beaten path that you recommend? We know it’s going to be insanely busy this time of year and are prepared for crowds. But, always love getting out of the majorly touristy areas. 3. Any other advice would be great! Thank you!! Jenna
Chelsea is a pretty nice neighborhood. For reference, I am attaching a Neighborhood Map of Manhattan. (Chelsea is the green shape on the lower left (west) side.) . You can use the map as a guide to getting around if other people make suggestions like, "There's a great place in Hell's Kitchen." (walking distance) or "There's a great place in Washington Heights." (which is all the north and not so convenient to get to from Chelsea). . More helpful tourist tips: The east-west Streets are numbered higher going north. 42nd Street is north of 23rd Street. The Streets usually alternate one way east, one way west with several important two-way exceptions (23rd, 34th, 42nd ...). "East # St." extends east of 5th Avenue. "West # St." extends west of 5th Avenue. House numbering begins ("zero") at 5th Avenue: 10 East # St. and 10 West # St. are basically across 5th Avenue from each other. The higher numbers are farther from 5th Avenue: 500 East # St. is closer to the East River. 500 West # St. is closer to the Hudson River. The streets mostly form a regular grid: Twenty (20) city blocks = one mile. The walk from 34th St. x 6th Ave. north to 54th St. x 6th Ave. is two miles. (That comes in handy if your group says, "Let's walk there!" or "Let's take a cab.") . The E-W walking distance between the north-south Avenues is longer than the N-S St.-to-St. distances but I don't remember the exact distance. . Search this board for many prior "neighborhood map" posts which are usually on tourist-oriented topics. . If you get homesick for country music, see: http://www.theinfatuation.com/new-york/guides/country-bars-restaurants-nyc Where To Be A Little Bit Country In NYC. . Bon voyage!
