I am going to be visiting NNJ (Secaucus) very soon and have decided to sneak away to New York to be a tourist for the day. There's only one problem... There's SO much to do and see that I can't make any decisions on what to do or see! So, my question to you all is what (in your opinion) is the one thing I MUST do/see while I am in the city? I'm open to any and all suggestions ranging from site seeing to dining to museums. Thanks in advance!

1) Take the boat from Battery Park and visit Liberty Island (Statue of Liberty) Depending how much time you have, you can also go to Ellis Island and see the museum there that documents all the immigration into our amazing county.

2) From Battery Park, its just a short cab ride over to the 911 memorial and pay your respects there.

3) If you have never been to the Empire State Building, now would be the time as it is low time for tourists.

4) Hit the theatre district and see a show and/or visit Times Square.

5) Take a horse drawn carriage thru Central Park

Excellent choices
Not sure if the horse drawn carriages are still there, they were talking of stopping them

I just saw Jersey Boys not too long ago and it was great.

If you are into fine dining you can't be Morton's for a great steak.  It is not dinner...it is a dining experience.  Have fun.

If you want pure NYC steakhouses, the most famous of them all is Peter Luger, but that's in Brooklyn and it's cash only.  Also, you better like porterhouse, because that's the only cut they serve.  Good luck getting a last-minute reservation, unless you want to eat at 11 pm.

Other unique NYC steakhouses are:

Sparks:  A mob boss was whacked outside it (in the 80s, I think).  I would say steak is okay, but not amazing.

Quality Meats:  A great new steakhouse in Midtown West.

Bobby Van's:  Lots of locations in Manhattan, but my personal favorites are the ones on Vanderbilt near Grand Central and on E. 54th St.  The one downtown sucks.
