Looking for opinions from New York City (as the board is refered to) hobbiest and providers.
I enjoy reading the new reviews every day. I have been noticing more reviews from Long Island,Upstate, CT and New Jersey are being posted on the NYC board.
If these providers do not service NYC and especially Manhattan then they and thier shills should list them under the New Jersey Board or the "Other" board.
Maybe the good folks at TER can come with another board for the outlying NYC areas.
The point is I am not interested in wasting my time calling find out that these people do not service Manhattan. I am not interested in traveling for two hours nor have a provider take up to two hours to get togehter. As it is making arrangments and getting around Manahttan is time consuming enough.
Considering the NYC board is the closest to CT and northern NJ it only makes sense that providers and hobbyist's post comments here. As far as contacting the providers that advertise on this board, thier websites usually tell you the areas they service. I cannot remember a single website I have been to that the provider did not mention her area of operation.
The point I am making is, if you are calling providers prior to reading the website, then the persons time you are wasting is not only your's, but the provider's too.
Actually, the board itself is " The New York Board" probably meaning New York State. But I understand your grievance. TER's origination was Los Angeles ( LAReview.com ?), and it expanded. So you can't expect them to categorize each area ( Long Island, Upstate, Western New York, ect...) Like Jae Jae says, go to the ladies site first. See if they list their areas of service. If not, drop them a line and ask. If the number of Providers keep increasing in an uncategorized area ( ie. New Jersey, Conneticut and Pennsylvania), TER might want to add the city to its list or make a seperate category called Tri State Area?
Just because every provider within the New York metroplex will not travel to Manhattan doesn't, IMHO, mean that they shouldn't use this forum. I live on Long Island and travel regularly to Manhattan and other places to visit providers.
Every TER forum that has as its name that of a city always has information relating to the entire metroplex. In LA that would include LA city and county, the San Fernando Valley, Orange county, and probably some more.
In New York, it should include the 5 boroughs, Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, and the NJ counties adjacent to Staten Island and Manhattan. All are within reach of anyone within the metroplex. If you want to see only Manhattan providers, limit your search to area code 212, and those a/c's that service cellular traffic on Manhattan.
1. The issue is about the review pages. Not the forum
2. Glad you have a good amount of free time to travel and to enjoy the hobby, seriously. I am lucky if I can grab an hour plus 30 minutes of travel. this makes finding a "new" rewarding experience as "reviewed" a little difficult especially since I have to research these issues on my own.
3. Orange county and New Jersey have seperate review areas. With the downward trend in the economy we may be seeing more providers outside of the NYC environs.
4.There are four area codes in Manhattan and I would guess a lot more high quality providers are concentrated on this 5 mile x 16 mile block of granite than anywhere else in the world. Please let me know if I am wrong! (please read HIGH QUALITY concentrated in a small area not spread out).
5. The web sites I was speaking of advertise that they service NYC but when called they never seem to have anyone or the prices are higher than advertised or they just mean Queens and or Brooklyn. Thier Shills reinforce these misconceptions in thier reviews. Why? What purpose does it serve. Are they trying to convince the market outside of NYC that they have a quality house because they serve NYC? I don't pretend to know the answer but they, not me, are wasting my time.
Thank you Kim for taking the time to read the message and provide some helpful suggestions. The volume of traffic in the NYC area requires additonal geographic areas for posting reviews. I would assume TER added Orange county after a similar situation occured in LA.
