If you are employed with a reputable employer, you can have ladies who accept employment verification screen you that way. My suggestion is to sign up with P411, they'll verify you and make the whole process a bit easier, not to mention give you acess to a lot of providers.

Once you see a provider and everything goes well and she consents, you can use her as a reference for providers who don't accept employment verification.

That said, Valeria's advice re joining P411 is good.  Once you're signed up there, just use their search function to find gals in the area who will see a newbie with no "OKs."

It does.  

People are nice to point you in the right direction but you have to do your own work.

This site works, man.  When I tried my first time, it was with a provider who was touring and announced it on this very board, and I wrote her an earnest e-mail expressing interest in meeting.  I was a total unknown, just a another newbie like everyone else was when we first started.  No matter...she responded, and after a further exchange of e-mails and a couple of phone conversations, we met on her first night in NYC that trip.  I was so psyched afterward that I was practically high fiving the parking meters on my way back to my car.

Fast forward almost ten years...an amazing experience.      Many friends now from all over the USA.  And I met with one of them tonight...  As for my relationship with the provider referenced in my first paragraph...
friends as solid as ever...if you treat these ladies eight, they will reciprocate in ways that will surprise and delight you...

Thank you very much for all the responses that I have gotten. As far as being screen through p411, you said through an employer... What if I am self employed? Are there other ways of getting verified? Personal websites, Facebook, LinkedIn etc?

Also as far as being skeptical, I'm sure we all had thoughts about it when starting out especially with all the stories out there with undercover police on craigslist and backpage.

I will take your advice and keep reading and chiming in where I can and continue to do my hw.
