need advice about an agency

i used this well know NY agency before, without any problems. Then last week i booked another appointment.. they confirm the time/date, etc.  when i got to the hotel ( 30 min drive) the provider wasnt ready.. and asked if I  could i wait. I did. Then they called me back and said the provider was delayed at the bank - could i make the meeting later in the day.  I cancelled.  Shit happens.. no biggie ( the agency was very sorry, and even offered me a discount on my next meeting- which was a nice gesture)

Today, the same thing happened. I had a 12:30 appt, called them at 11:50 to confirm, then drove the 30 mins .. when i got there, the agency called and said the provider needed 20 more minutes. Ok, no problem. I waited. Then they called back saying the provider was delayed at the bank, could i wait till 1:15. I had to cancel.

My confusion is ... why didnt they tell me that when i made the first call.. then i could re-arrange my day and make a later appointment, rather then my wasting my time driving back and forth?
It's hard enough "stealing" hours during the day to hobby.. better communication is needed.

anyone have any thoughts on this.. or similar experience?


the agency called and emailed me and was very apologetic  - in addition they offered a compensation for the inconvenience caused. Frankly, I was impressed by the efforts they showed to correct this - I have had no-shows in the past ( as with many hobbiest) and  barely received a text / email offering an apology.
With this being said.. I'm cool with this agency.. and believe they warrant another shot.
