Thanks to my regulars and some very nice new clients, I've had a great trip here this week.  

BUT-- I've been shocked by how many men have not only approached me with no screening info, but who basically refused to give any.  

After I politely declined one fellow for lack of references, he blew up my phone for 3 days and eventually emailed me with a made-up name (but the same cell phone) and tried to slip through my screening that way.  

I'm not a particularly tough cookie-- but I've survived for 10 years now by not allowing sneaky, pushy, anonymous jerks to come into my private incall, especially in in a strange city.  

Is this a recent trend? This has a predatory feel about it, and it's upsetting

Please don't let a few bad apples spoil the apple cart for you.  

By and large, I still believe that NYC is one of the most sophisticated hobbying communities on the face of the planet.  

Personally, I understand your security concerns 100% and there's no two ways about it, you're totally right to stick by your screening policy.  

Just brush off the bozos and I hope you'll come back in the not too distant future and stars can allign for me to do something Tabu.

What type of screening information were you asking for from this guy?  Lots of us will not provide personal information.  Maybe you use a screening service such as Preferred 411 but if you don't you should consider it.

But when I get an email or phone call that states:  "My name is Joe, I have no references, but here's my burner phone number and hobby email, so you should see me"... well, that's playing a little fast and loose with my safety.
 

I agree with you Tabu, I have been here in NY for a year now and lately I have had new clients requesting appts w/o any references. Its not about being a hard butt but if your doing something and thats just how its been working for you, why change it? I stick to my  guns and do not see clients that have no provider reference(s) and I also do a little check on the provider to make sure she is legit as well. It is about our safety. Most of the guys though that do not have references understand and just leave it at that. I do feel bad for you that you had to deal with the one particular guy that constantly called you. I have found my experience here in NY to be the best in the three years I have been in the hobby. So dont let one person get you down.

Sorry about your screening issues though and I have to say that reaching out to a provider who obviously screens (makes it clears on ads and/or site) and then trying to avoid or flat out refuse the process or worse try to be sneaky about it (as if you're a newbie or won't be thorough) is pretty stupid to me.

When they have to or they will move on.  It won't last forever, just stay the course!   There is a glaring of lazy girls here, doing most anything to compete and getting arrested and STDs in the meanwhile. It'll work itself out, I love my east coast clients!
