Just to let providers and the agencies beware.

AGENCIES #1 Do you realize by sending a ESCORT TO JERSEY to work, something happens, the escort gets charged with a FELONY, not a misd.

Providers, want you to be aware, considering all the stings going on there right now.

Make sure before you do your homework and you trust the escort on tour that it's a FELONY in Jersey.

Thanks dingus, but exactly what felony could they charge?

Thanks for your help.  Under New Jersey law, like that of most states, engaging in prostitution is categorized as disorderly conduct, the equivalent of a misdemeanor.  It is not a felony.  While conviction of a misdemeanor is certainly a bad thing to happen to someone, it does not have the same consequences as conviction of a felony, such as the forfeiture of certain civil rights.

It seems that the agency owner and manager can be charged with a crime of the third degree (5 year max)while the provider herself can be charged with disorderly conduct for a first offense and a crime of the fourth degree (18 months max) for a subsequent offense.  I think NJ law classifies anything punishable by 12 months or more as a felony.  However, I think between 12-24 months also can be called a "high misdemeanor."  I'm not sure.

A crime of the fourth degree in New Jersey is the equivalent of a misdemeanor:

Notwithstanding any other provision of law, a crime defined by any statute of this State other than this code and designated as a high misdemeanor shall constitute for the purpose of sentence a crime of the third degree. Except as provided in sections 2C:1-4c. and 2C:1-5b. and notwithstanding any other provision of law, a crime defined by any statute of this State other than this code and designated as a misdemeanor shall constitute for the purpose of sentence a crime of the fourth degree.

I wish for lawyers sake that they would change the laws like they have in some states, and put pictures of people like you in the paper when they do stupid things, which is inevitable with your comment.  Why do people hate lawyers?  Why do people hate INCOMPETENT lawyers?  I hope you go to nj frequently, pity the provider.
