in incall hotels or apartments.  But I think an apartment in a good neighbourhood is kind of more intimate for hobbyists. Most gents vote for Midtown East. But I lived on UES and Downtown and didn't notice a difference. HTH. Xo

As long as you stay in midtown, you should be OK.  Since you are new, keep it very close to a subway line.  Once you establish yourself, you can get a bit further away.  Your clients will follow you.

 
Apartment/vs hotel is a coin flip.  My preference is for a hotel because I blend in better.  Be mindful though of places with elevator keys.  However, the same can be said of doormen at apartments, as they get in the way.  There are ways around both, and this is your choice how much 'interference' would prevent someone from seeing you.

One additional thought.  The more permanent your incall location, the more stringent your screening needs to be for your safety and mine.  It's easier to change a hotel location if something goes wrong.  However, some ladies in NYC have multiple year careers working out of the same apartment incall, so it can be done.

midtown hotels work best for me so far. hotels especially chain hotels are easy to blend in, less awkward than boutique hotel that seems keep monitoring you by saying hi and bye everytime you go in and out lol. hotels that need keys for elevator, hotels that need keycard to enter after 10pm are also pretty common and have to plan ahead if you have one of those hotels as incall.

I prefer an apartment provided that the Apartment is nice.   You have much greater control of the environment in an apartment.   A typical hotel room lacks an area where you can sit and talk and only allows you to bring whatever you can fit into the small bag that you have to lug with you.  In an apartment you also have the ability to offer refreshments and have everything that you need to accommodate special requests.  It also gives you the flexibility to stagger your dates more b/c when you are at a hotel you have to cram as many appointments in as possible in a short period of time to cover the cost of a room.

But as is said above, it is important to remain in midtown or close to it.

Sometimes I like hotels if it's a big hotel.
 
Location well Midtown east or west is what most seem to prefer because it's so central. But I like Brooklyn or Upper East too.
