There are so many places now, and not just in Manhattan. You can take Jet Blue or Airtran to White Plains and stay in that city (Crowne Plaza is good) or in Stamford (a good Hilton and a Sheraton there). In Manhattan there are tons of good hotels. I was just in the Hilton on Ave. of the Americas and it's been freshened up nicely but there are plenty of others.
