I am about average (5.75" in length) and not sure about the exact width (about average also).
I have had more than one person (including civvies) say it is not looking and the perfect size for them.

Although I've never paid much attention to size...I've been told that I'm amply endowed by women who seem to know.

No idea how to measure width
Think it totally depends on the woman. Some women don't like them very wide because it hurts. Other women don't like them too long because they say they feel it up in their gut.
